And I didn't say the game was bad, it wasn't modern though. They returned it to the older style, which there is nothing wrong with that. But I got my hopes up for something extraordinary and they gave me that.:?

I hate it when people give this reason, really gets to me.

Sorry. Its just my opinion...And happens to be slightly true. I did enjoy it though, I enjoy all of the Final Fantasy's. But I do not like FFIX as much as some of the others.

Well in my opinion people kind of get just to all the high tech stuff in previous ff (on psx VII,VIII),and overall atmosphere of the games, they had kind of futuristic look so it was hard for the most of the people to get just to magical and mystical atmosphere of the IX,to bad for them the game was and still is one of the best ff i think it has the true essence of the name Final Fantasy.

Well, I did like FFIX, but not as much as I did with other FF games. While they did return it to the old tradition, it looked a bit childish due to after playing FF7 and 8 :P

Actually, I think Final Fantasy IX touched on more mature subjects than VII and VIII did, especially the theme of life and death, through Vivi and the disturbing things that happen to the Black Mages.

In fact, I believe it was even more adult-oriented. When did you ever see the main character grab some chicks's ass or take a leak with another dude in VII or VIII ?

It's a shame that people just automatically qualify Final Fantasy IX as a "kiddy game" just because of its light-hearted atmosphere and cartoonish graphics.

Agreed. Another reason I think people say IX is kiddy is because Zidane was much more cheery and hyperactive than Cloud or Squall.

Hahahaha! That's so true! He wasn't quite as emo as Cloud or as self-centered as Squall......I really liked FFIX, my 2nd favorite FF behind VII.

but I think the most unappreciated and underrated FF is FFV

Many people doesnt even give FFIX a chance. Because by looking it at first, anyone would think its a "Kiddy" game. Just because the graphics are based on the old Final Fantasy games. Not many people know that it its one of the best to come out in the series, both in story and gameplay.

well it's naturally and quite obviously far better than FFVIII, but VIII wasn't that good...FFX, VI, VII and XII were better however, and due to this, time has reduced the impact on peoples minds of FFIX, one of the reasons the others in the PS1 era have eclipsed FFIX, i believe is their higher replay value...

FFIX does tend to get cast into the shadows, without getting the recognition it deserves. It's easily my 2nd favorite FF game
