Your thoughts about the first FF game you ever played, after the first hour?

Well I just wanted to start this topic because the FF games some times has to be played for awhile to grow into your favorite, and when you where playing your first FF game you didn't know how great the game would turn out to be.

So the question is, what where your thoughts about the first FF game you ever lay your hands on, only one hour into the game?

As I live in Europe the first FF game that made it here was FF VII, and I didn't know anything about the series, I had just heard rumors about the game series being big in Japan so I decided to try it.

My thoughts after one hour play time was... Got damn scorpion why can't you just die this must be one of the hardest bosses in the game! and what is this bolt thing, ahh ok that did the trick :P hehe

A reminder I had never played a RPG before and I was young :P

My first experience was when I was about 8 or 9 with Final Fantasy IV (II for the SNES). It looked interesting, so I rented it for the weekend. As with you, I had NEVER played an RPG of any kind before and I was at a total loss. I didn't understand anything about what was going on. I kept being attacked repeatedly and couldn't react fast enough to hit "attack" or find the spell to cast in time. I remember thinking how stupid the game was and returned it early.

Fast forward 13 years. I found a copy of VI (III for the SNES) and began playing through it. I had grown in my gaming quite a bit and I fully understood what a RPG was and what the ATB system was and I could enjoy the game more. But it was the story of VI that sucked me in to the series and I've played them all since then.

I look back now at my first experience with IV and how silly I was back then. It makes me laugh thinking the game I thought was stupid turned out to belong to the series of games I now love the the most.

After the first hour...? I bet my thoughts were similar to: "ohmygodohmygod, don't kill me!". I was young and I didn't like that the monsters attacked me.

Now I'm just laughing at that thought :P

The first Final Fantasy game I played was Final Fantasy IV on emulator. My first thoughts were.....SLOW DOWN i can't think fast enough to know what to do.....lol then as i played it more i got used to the active battle system

Honestly, I think I was kind of pissed off. Being young I wasn't expecting a turn-based system where you enter commands. My friends use to talk about Final Fantasy IV and VI. I was able borrow one, and all I can remember is say.."what the hell is this?"NeoGen85

Loved FF the first time I played it too, but that damn scorpion was bulls**t when i was a kid ;P

My first was X and i fell in love!

i loved everything about it

and it was easy which is good for a noob 

My first FF was X. At least that's the first I remember playing and really getting into. At least until one of the harder boss battles. After the first hour, I was like, "Whoa! This is NOT like Zelda." and "How much longer 'til I beat the thing?" :P Before I had mostly played a LOT of Zelda. Like every single game in the series.twilightlullaby

Woo, Tekken for teh win! It was the first game I played on PS. The first FF that I played was X as well, I used to just look at the others playing before :P I was that boring.

my first FF was X, back in 2002, thats what got me into playing the others.

I didnt even had to play it for an hour, cuz just the intro FMV left me specheless
