I'm talking about resident evil 2 and 3 for the cube. I know that they are just ports and not complete overhauls like REmake, but, I have never played either of these titles. I want to get them but I don't really want to drop 40 bucks on each game. However, since I have RE0, REmake and RE4 on the cube I am kind of itching to get 2 and 3 just to have the whole series. Are these worth picking up or a total waste of $$$?

1) Yes, those games are worth the time, money and effort, especially if you've not played them before, provided you're not put off by the fact that the graphics are PS1 quality.

2) My opinion is jaded since I'm a huge Resident Evil fan, but i've beaten them 10 times over, and still bought them for the NGC.

3) You'll still need to find a copy of "RE: Code VeronicaX" for the NGC should you wish to "complete your collection", and CVX is more rare and expensive than RE2 or RE3.

I got the pair (RE2 and RE3) for $25 apiece (well, really it was $30 for RE2 and $20 for RE3, but i got them at the same time).

The previous poster had good advice though:  it may take a few weeks of searching, tracking, bidding and eventually winning one on ebay, but that is typically the best bet for rarer stuff. I kind of luck out because a friend of mine owns the best video game shop I've ever come across.  Its called "1UP GAMES" and he deals in rarities and vintage stuff.  You want a Turbo Grafix 16? he's got one.  You want an import copy of Final Fantasy for Famicom? he's got it.

If after playing Resident Evil 4 you still want to play the older ones, then you should go for it. You may want to consider picking up the PlayStation version though.

"You may want to consider picking up the PlayStation version though."

I disagree.  The NGC versions look better to me, play just as good, and if you've already got the rest of your RE collection on the Cube, why bother with multiple systems for the same games.

I've seen the NGC versions for as low as $20 each, and I don't personally see the advantage of the older versions aside from saving perhaps $20.  Now, if you don't already have a Sony system, the decision is even easier.

If you are a fan of the Resident Evil games that you already have then yes go and buy them but don't buy them brand new. Search around and you should be able to buy them at fairly reasonably prices.

"Resident Evil 2" specifically is one of those games that I'd buy regardless of pricing.  To me, its an "alltime classic" type game in the category of a "Final Fantasy VII" or "Legend of Zelda".  It wouldn't matter the price, i'd need a copy!

If you love the series yes, otherwise you may be put off by the graphics.
