My gamecube died....

Some of us can't just simply go out and buy a brand new system. We have to enjoy what we have.

Like I tell everyone, make sure that the inside of the system is clean from dust and any other crap that might get inside. Get a compressed air gun or even the vacuum cleaner if your that desperate. (I would recommend the CO2) Also, is it just one game where it does this or does it do it for all of the ones youve tried? If you clean it and test other games and it still doesnt work, it could most likely be the laser.Dysantic

I'd rather shell out $279 for another Cube than spend $5 on a Wii, but that aside, you shouldn't have much problems replacing your NGC for $30-50.

Why move on, i just got my cube.  Not interested in any of the current gen consoles yet.

I'm with you there CSGAMER7399, its far too early for me to invest money into a next gen console until they've been out longer and I can properly decide which one is worth the money.

Hah, sorry man but I know how you feel. One day after playing SSX: Tricy on mine the system just went crazy and did'nt read any game disc's I was crushed. Sadly you can do only two thing's A.) take it a licensed repair place or B.) buy another one. I had to do the second option...it was like wasting money!

That's the GCN's problem the exposed lens.

P.s Gamecube sucks( the worst of xbox,ps2 and well gamecube, ps2 is best). gamecube was a waste of money when it launched and its a waste of money now.

Mine also had a problem with the lens last year. It had lasted me 4 years or so, so it was definitely a sad moment, unlike when my Xbox broke after a year. Got a new one though.

Um, no it doesn't. It had 3 GoTY's here at GameSpot over a 5 year period and Metroid Prime got the highest rating out of every game on PS2, Gamecube and Xbox excluding Tony Hawk 3 (which got a 10). Sure, it may of been a commercial failure, but that's not due to games, it's due to Nintendo's image. In terms of games, the Gamecube flat out beats the Xbox. Metroid Prime, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Metroid Prime 2, Super Smash Bros Melee, Resident Evil 1/0/4, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin 1/2, Paper Mario, Super Mario Sunshine, Viewtiful Joe, Rogue Squadron 2, Tales of Symphonia, Fire Emblem: Path of Radience, Battalion Wars, MGS:Twin Snakes, F-Zero GX, Star Fox Adventures, Wave Race, Ikaruga.

I can keep going, but I think 23 fantastic games make a system worth owning.

(Not only that, but the few ports listed were intentionally developed for the Gamecube and work best on the system, excluding Ikaruga. However, not many people could obtain that game anyway, so it's existence is of more importance to the Gamecube and Dreamcast. )

 You on the other hand recommend the PS3, which has Resistance, a Ridge Racer game that is nearly identical to the previous 360 version and a racing game with 8 courses and only two modes. Enjoy wasting your money.

I really don't know the problem but I think its the lens. I had the gc since launch and It hasnt been working since last week it playes for like 10 minutes. Then it laggs and says theres no cd inside.trophylocoste

 Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago, but my problem was the memory chip in the Gamecube.

GC is just the best console just admit it yes wii sucks yes:D
