Anyone still playing PSO on their Cube? Anyone playing online? Or has Sega shut down the servers already?

Sorry to say this, but SEGA no longer sells Hunter licences. They stopped their service for on-line play quite a while ago. Info at the bottom.

However, and to your own risk, there is a Free Personal Server onto which you can play. I say to your own risk, since there is a big chance of getting all your loot stolen by hackers. Still, it's nice to know that you can still play co-op on-line.

I have not played much of it on the GCN, I got much farther in the Sega Dreamcast version. I thought I would try to pass it on GCN, with it loading faster and all, but gave up after a good while. Still, a good game it is.

Yea, private servers is the way to go.

As for my opinion on the games.

PSO12 is your typical hack and slashfest. Except it's online. On the cube. So yea, you go around the same boring areas, slashing at the same stupid AI monsters, hoping they drop some rare thing, which they don't because 99% of the time you get crappy stuff. You can play with up to 4 people, but cooperative? PSH. It's about as cooperative as counter strike. You need people covering your weaknesses, you know, having different functions for teamwork.

So bottom line is it's RPG. Repetitive combat which kills a decent story. Hey but it's rare.

PSO3... I can't play this online. Or it really can't be played online. The game glitches up, it doesn't allow you to even move for instance. Actually, it corrupted my memory card. Um, it's strategy. Strategy to me, is a whole lot better than repetitiveness. You get to choose from a couple of heroes, some have unique skills. Then you make your deck of cards, which you choose from shields, weapons, creatures. The way you get to choose how you play is exciting. I like it.

Gave up playing this online for two reasons:

1.) Total loss of all saved data due to the rediculous "corruption" function! and...

2.) Hackers - causing (1) at will. That and duping killed it :( Sega really should have done more to stop that...
