I was wondering if now is a great tiem ti get a gamecube. I regred buying my ps2 for its full price and paying $50 for games.  I noticed that stores and still selling gamecube games, but for how much longer is what i'm turely wondering.  Didn't nintendo games still stay on shelfs for a year after the cube came out.

Is it safe to say I have another year to buy gamecube games if i get a cube?

I do not want to get a wii until price drop because i want to play cube games on it and i'd have to buy gamecube controlers for the wii to play cube games, and buy cube controlers to play SSBB.  So i might as well enjoy a cube until wii has a good solid lineup of games?

It's a great time to get a cube. And a great price. Games are dropping in price like crazy, too. And when the wii goes down, and you buy one, you can sell your cube and still play your games on the wii.

Hard to say how long used/refurbished GameCubes and new/used games will be readily available. I know I don't see many copies of Resident Evil 4 or F-Zero GX anymore, and never see anything like Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. So I would say the sooner you get a system, accessories, and games, the better. Games like Soul Calibur II, F-Zero GX, TimeSplitters 2, Metroid Prime, REmake, Resident Evil 0, Hitman 2, Medal of Honor: Frontline, and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance are all great games that are $6-$13, used. Invest!

Just get a Wii...Rocky32189

If I see one more "just get a Wii" comment when someone asks about an NGC I'm going to puke.  Did you even READ his post? He's looking for a deal on an inexpensive system. If he was tyring to spend $300 on a Wii, he wouldn't be on the GAMECUBE FORUM asking about a GAMECUBE.

Yes, its a great time to get a Cube. Its a great pricepoint for a warrantied brand new system, and you can still find accessories and the decent games on the cheap. The problem I see with waiting another year is that you may find some of the better accesories and games becoming harder to find as they become out of print.

If you're committed to going though the Cubes back catalog then go for it, Metroid, Pikmin, RE4, Eternal Darkness, Mario games, Rogue Squadron, etc. Are games you just didn't find anywhere else and a lot of them are really quite good.

Yes, but the downside is that some of the games can be hard to find now depending on your area. Not a problem for me to find GCN games at my local EB stores. IMO it was always the right time to get a Cube, love that little thing. Hope you can build up a nice collection with it.

I think you've answered your own question in that you should get a cube and buy some games for it. By the time you've gone through some of the games, Wii games should have gone down in price.

Although some viewed the cube as coming 3rd in last generations console wars, don't put let that put you off because there are some great games out there that you should get.

You might want to look at the 'Gamecube recommendation thread #3' from this forum-

http://uk.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=24222965

It is harder to find cube games in the shops especially as Wii owners are interested in the game now but I've found some bargins from going online to places like Amazon/e-bay. You should also be able to pick up the console itself quite cheap as well. I've seen places selling the console over here in the UK second hand for about £25 (about $50).

Well if you want to wait till price drop of the Wii, then get a GC. You can sell it later and get a Wii anyway...

Sorry but I think its foolish to get a GC at this point. The Wii only costs $250. Why are you going to spend close to $100 for a GC when for $150 more you can get all the GC capabilities plus tons more. I'm sure this person will eventually want to buy a Wii so why not go for it now instead of wasting money on a Cube? Nintendo has completely pulled the plug on the GC so he will just be playing old games. I'm sure there will be Wii games that will interest this person so just pay the extra $150 more. It's not much more. To the original poster: It's a horrible time to get a GC but the perfect time to buy a Wii.

Yes but how do you know this person wants a Wii or not? What if he just wants to play only GC games, if he does then whats the point in coughing up extra money just to play only GC games? What if he is saving up for a 360 or a PS3 and decides to get a cheap GCN to play games he missed out? Dont assume that everyone who had a GC or wants a GC will eventually buy a Wii in the future, because I know I wont, just waiting for the 360 to hit a price drop. The Wii is doing Nintendo favors by increasing their profit, but sadly to me it does not seem like a "gamer" console. I say go ahead and get a GC if he wants to play only GC games, but if he wants to play Wii games as well, then I guess he should get a Wii.

P.S. Stop acting like there is something wrong with the GC.

Well as I already said the person who posted this thread was looking to getting a cube anyway. Sure the Wii is a great console but it's out of reach for some people at the moment. Not everyone has cash just lying around.

If you can get a cube second hand and some cheap games then why not.

I just bought Zelda TP for the Gamecube today so even more reason for me not to go out and get a Wii just yet.

Go to walmart they have tons of copies of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and it is less then 20 bucks. Go look around there are more places that sell games then gamestop and ebgames. Target Best Buy Circuit City, Toy's R us. There are tons of places that sell them. Stop going to specility stores.

EB/gamestop have really cheap used games for GC PS2 and Xbox now.  The selection can be running thin at times.  Chech eBay and Amazon's used selection(and occasionally they still have a new copies of some games) if you have trouble finding the games you want.

Buy one on Ebay.  You can get a used one for around 100$ with a few games, extra controllers, memory cards and other extras.  It's worth looking, I just sold mine yesterday with 3 controllers, 6 games for 80$ us.  Shop around and you'll find a lot that suits you best.
