If you look on my profile, S.S.B.M is the highest rated review I rated. I want to know the real hype. Is Super Smash Brothers (the series not just the game) good? Or Bad?

It's one of the best games ever, thanks to its competitive community. MLG is huge, and Smashboards allows you to find tournaments hosted around the world. It's also proven to be one of the deepest fighting games ever, even though it is simplistic in nature.NintendoAddict7
Simple to grasp, tough to master, the Pong or Pac Man mantra.
I love SSB. It's probably the best party game ever made. The single player is also fun.ZKBI personally have found many many many many many many hours of enjoyment in just playing on one player, perfecting moves and characters, and just having fun beating up bowser with pikachu or slashing ganondorf with marth. Its just plain fun... Its the most played game ive ever had. I think it deserves every merit it gets and more. Its an excellent party game and for some like me an excellent single player game.
I loved the original Smash Bros. Didn't think Nintendo could do anything to make it better, but then they TOTALLY blew me out of the water with Melee. Definitely one of the best GC games.
ALTHOUGH, I think it would be a really neat idea if Nintendo made a Smash Bros RPG. They could cook up a really good storyline involving all the classic Nintendo characters teaming up to take on some baddy. You could choose a party of 3 your fav Nintendo guys and level up how you choose and stuff. If done properly I think that would be a GREAT game. It'll probably never happen, but hey a guy can dream.
I think super smash brothers is a great ame all around. Yes, the 4 player brawls are really fun to play. In addition, you can get competitive and go to 1v1 or team tournaments. Surprisingly enough, there actually is a lot of 1 player value. Home run contest and break the targets have kept me entertained with the game even when nobody's around to play.
I don't really like this game. I know how crazy people are for it, but I just think the concept is way cooler than the actual game itself.
I would have liked to see a much deeper fighting system. This game just felt too light for me.
its an awesome game especialy when u master wave dashing makes the game so much interesting and it can really get so crazy with 4 players its so fun.Zerox4567I agree, best offline multiplayer ever, but when brawl comes out, it WILL be online, that'll be awsome. cause I have a wii.
I think it Melee was a great game for groups of people, my roommates and I would play it for hours. When your alone thou... eh.. lvl 9's just ain't challenging enough. Great game to have with friends, the new one being online should definitely be a great thing for the series... very great.Mr_Fordham
The fighters are unbalanced; if I played as Shiek and you played as DK, I'd have a large advantage over you in speed.I'm sorry, but your completely wrong. I thought I was the grand master because there were few that could beat me. I started playing against real players and learned about a thousand more things to this game then I thought I did. So much so that level nine might as well be a level one. I'm not amazing mind you, I know many people now that can beat me, but as far as a not deep between characters? Its very obvious you spent very little time truly playing this game. Ganondorf and Falco, yea similar moves but completely and utterly different timing which makes him totally different. You can argue that with roy and marth sure, but not fox and falco, falco falls faster and smaller jump, makes a completely different strategy. Little link and big link? Yes similar qualities, but still very different. Finally doctor mario and mario? Hello cape of Fing doom on regular mario. Sure doctor had it, but I played a mario master and he would hand my butt to me, but as doctor mario he would lose. Very very clear that you really didn't spend any significant time playing this game and basically read a book by its cover. Mind you I've done that too with others games, but I'd hoped to be called out on it.
I don't find the singleplayer fun. Level 9s aren't hard for me. Adventure mode is fun the first three times and becomes a chore to do just to get trophies.
I find many of the locked characters are too similar to their original counterparts.
And the unlocks aren't great. Woohoo, trophies... Now I can stare at them... I'd feel more accomplished if I unlocked a special game mode, but those are already open so...
Fighting can become unbalanced for players if one of them knows certain tricks like wavedashing. That means the other players have to learn how to do that as well to make it even.
I do find SSBM to be simpler than most fighters, resulting in easy pick up and play. I just don't like the gameplay anymore. The last straw had to be that I don't play the cube with friends much anyway, so this was sold.

It'd be odd, but if put with a multiplayer element could have somethign really good.I loved the original Smash Bros. Didn't think Nintendo could do anything to make it better, but then they TOTALLY blew me out of the water with Melee. Definitely one of the best GC games.
