SSB for the N64 was amazing at the time, and Melee on the Cube improved on it in just about every way. I believe Melee easily lived up to the hyperbole surrounding it, if not surpassed it. I love it. :)
I love them... but I think way too many people take the games way too seriously. It's meant to be a fun party-game brawler that you can sit down and and enjoy, not a hardcore uber-wavedash-short-hop-L-cancel fest. (at least in my opinion)
If you look on my profile, S.S.B.M is the highest rated review I rated. I want to know the real hype. Is Super Smash Brothers (the series not just the game) good? Or Bad?
I agree with Funkymaster. I thought it was really fun when it came out, but it kind of lost its appeal when people started getting too hardcore with it. I still do like the game, but it's hard to take this game way too seriously as other people do. But then again, I haven't played against someone in about 2 years. There is no one to play anymore because either they are too good for me or they have no interest. The new Wii edition looks ok, but it kind of gives off the same vibe. However, I just can't say no to Solid Snake and his cardboard box...
