I'm not sure if its the crappy 360 hardware or EA. My Madden 08 and NHL 08 keep freezing or i get the dirty disc error right in middle of game. I got NHL few days ago its in perfect shape yet i got this 3 times already. Frustrating cause i'm a big hockey fan. Madden actually got scratched. I have yet to get this problem with 2k or Other games. I'm trying to figure out if its the system, which i now hhave sitting on a stand in the middle of my room completely open and vented on every side with a fan on it(which is sad enough that i have to play something like that).

I am definitely interested in this answer. Happening to a friend of mine right now. We assumed it was a disc error.

My suggestion for people having these problems is to keep the system off the carpet. Carpet cam create static which can damage eletronic componets over time. All the systems I've owned in the past going back to the Sega CD and genesis I always kept under a stand where it was more/less sitting on a shelf. Allowing the system to touch the rug will eventually make the hardware obsolete. Static is a system killer. Also, if you do keep the system in a shelf or not on the carpet, make sure no soft materials cover or come in contact with the unit as well, just keep it uncovered if possible.

My 360 is not on a carpet and it happens to me too, mainly with Gears Of War and Marvel. I think it's te 360 the problem, not the games because as soon as i started playing Marvel it started to freeze.

id say its the games because thats happened to my cousin too he would play madden and it would freeze up whenever you made a touchdown but when we played gears and oblivion it worked fine.

The 360 has a 40% faliure rate (not a made up percenatge, it was on gamespot news a few weeks ago), but you should be able to send it back to microsoft for repair (free)

I've sent mine in for repair three times now, and two of those three times, the red rings were preceded by dirty disc errors.

I'm sure not a hardware guru, but I would say it's 99.9% probable that it has absolutely zilch to do with the disc in the machine, but rather, the machine itself. Just wait for it to red ring and then send it in to Microsoft.

yeah im pretty positive its the system. mine started doing the same and it sits on top of a desk with no static at all. mine usually only does it if i start playing a game i have left if the console from playing previously.
