There are a few way character to recover their health. What are they and do you think about them.
There is the item recover. This is where the player find or carry item that restore their health. It can add a challenge. The problem is when you are down to 1% of your health and face a group of enemies and you use all he health items you have access to.
Another is health regeneration. This is where the health slower recovers. Many have complained about this system allowing the player to just hid and return to the peak of the health. It also allow for much larger combat moments. It also allow for less to be focus on searching for health item and more on the combat.
There are hybrids of the two system talk about before. These can fail; like, in RPG where your magic recover and you have a healing spell that allow you to recover with out a worry about your items. They can also be a system better than the two that are it source. They keep the player being needing to search every corner just to find just a little more health and keep them player from being able to charge right through a huge group of enemies.
