For me personally, I could never get into Jet Grind Radio. I really tried to get into this game, but despite my efforts I could not. I mostly had issues with the gameplay and I sort of thought of it as repetitive.

*Prepares for onslaught* However, one game that I have tried and tried to like, but for whatver reason never enjoyed was the Metroid series. Maybe it was because my first experience with Metroid was the GC releases, I tried playing Super Metroid a while back and was mostly uninspired. I feel like apologizing to anyone who likes this series, but I simply don't get the appeal of Metroid.

What highly revered games have you tried, but just didn't get?

I've been lucky; pretty much every legacy game I've played was one I could get into.

The Zelda series. I completed most of the main ones and I just couldn't get into them, I felt like I forced myself to beat them just so I could give more credbility to my moderately negative opinion on the series. I care a LOT about the story on games and let's face it the Zelda games have generic, crappy stories with no real character development like an RPG, so that's probably one of the main reasons as to why I can't get into them (or at least the stories aren't good when compared to something like a Final Fantasy story). That and they all felt extremely long winded to me, too. Just for people wondering here's the ones I've played: -Ocarina of Time - completed -Majora's Mask - completed -Twilight Princess - completed -Link to the Past - completed -Minish Cap - played for a few hours -Wind Waker - played for a few hours

Ocarina of Time, I loved Majora's mask, and basically every other game but OOT and Twilight Princess just did not hold my interest for more then a half hour at a time.

Agreed. I've tried getting into this series for about 13 years now...but clearly it's never going to happen.

I actually own Ocarina of Time, and I tried playing through it several times, each time getting annoyed fairly quickly. I know its a quality game series, no doubt about it, but I never got into it.

Grand Theft Auto III - I did not like the controls and couldn't get into it. The improvement with Vice City/San Andreas was enough so I liked them. Chrono Cross - I thought the game was merely decent. I was not big on the battle system and the story was okay. Did not have the charm of Trigger. Jak 2 - I did not like the darker turn that the series took as I really liked the first game.

This will probably get me publically flogged, but... Castlevania. I played Super Castlevania IV as a child and it bored me, tried again with Symphony of the Night some twenty years later, same result. No idea why.

Final Fantasy 6 and 7...I loved FF8, FF10, FF12 but imo 6 and 7 are overrated crap Deus Ex Half-Life 2..The most overrated game ever made...Everyone praises the story and storytelling and say its some of the best in gaming...well I must have had a faulty copy because it wasnt there when I played.

Wow, great to hear that I'm not alone with this. The last Zelda I played was Wind Waker and I even got quite far, but then it just dragged on too long for my tastes.

Yup I am the same way! I enjoyed watching me friend play when I was younger and I respect the game. But when I pick it up is pisses me off so fast. I like watching it and listening to the music more than actually playing it haha

the violence in that game may seem high but you have tons more fun playing it than a popular fps which more kids play

Half Life series. It's just plain boring. Sure the graphics were ahead of its time, but it's just another boring and generic FPS. It doesn't do much to set itself apart.

Metroid series. It's hard to explain why I find a game boring, but Metroid is just plain boring.

Grand Theft Auto III. I thought it was cool at first, I liked the open world to explore, but there's not much to do. I liked Grand Theft Auto IV a lot more.

For those that said MGS, what about the game did you not like? Just curious. Also, please state what version you played as some later versions had a few improvements.

It's funny I feel a bit worse now that I see no one else mentioned this one. Megaman. None of them. For some reason I just can't do It. And it isn't like I don't like action platformers or anything either, cause I loved Contra and Sonic and Mario. I dunno man.

you played hide and seek with your friends as a kid ,by sneaking up to them and breaking their necks??? :P yeah , that was a pretty crude joke. and I would say MGS2 and 4 are the ones with really long cuscenes , 1 and 3 were not as bad, and MG1 and MG2.....well , they are actually pretty sparse compared ot the later games.

Oh, wow. First off, let me just say I LOVE your signature and avatar. LOL :). But here are my games that I couldn't get in to: Final Fantasy series. Never could get in to it. I tried Final Fantasy VII and VIII. I personally find it boring. To be honest, any RPG or Strategy game. Mario. Not that I dislike it, but I haven't really played it that much, just don't care for it. I like Sonic though :) On the topic of Zelda, my brother has one for the Wii, but I haven't played it yet. To be honest, it's another one of those games that just don't really interest me. Colony Wars and any space-themed game similar to that that are popular. Those are my opinions :)

GeoffZak

Half Life 1 did everything to set itself apart from every other shooter at the time, healthpacks/ammo in crates instead of everywhere, amazing graphics for 1998 it also came with worldcraft and many mod tools making it extremely easy to mod

Half Life 2 might not have been as revolutionary, but the physics alone where unparalleled at the time, no one could match how open source half life 2 was, and the graphics were also top notch

i guess i am a little bias because those are my favorite games of all time but they are anything but generic shooters

Lunar, SMT Nocturne, Persona 3, Metroid Prime, Suikoden II, Skies of Arcadia, Tactics Ogre, Zelda - Wind Waker, Eternal Darkness ...

Some of these games I beat ... and some I may beat in the future. Some of these games I don't really dislike, but they didn't do much for me. Others I liked less.

agree on Skies Of Arcadia, I got bored with the game. though the stupid thing is that the PAL version does not have VGA support, while the US and JPN versions do

Pretty much any turn based RPG type gane. They just bore me to death. I used to want to try playing all those great RPG's on the SNES but just could not get into it. Also, I just never had a thing for the Metal Gear series as well.

I want to also add..

Mario 64 - While revolutionary, I just never really liked the transition to 3D

Any Zelda game after Link to the Past

The Mega Man X4 and up

Pokemon games, although its probably more due to my age (29)

Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Wind Waker
Super Smash Bros series
Mario Party series
Mario 64 (and Galaxy 1&2, for that matter)
Any StarFox game after StarFox 64
Perfect Dark and Goldeneye
Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 10 (despite forcing myself to beat them since I paid good money for them)
Kingdom Hearts series
Halo series
