So I heard about this game via screw attacks Video game vault thing. I always wondered if what he said was true with the games he lists as awesome. So I found this gem at Value Village for $3.99 CAD and I gotta say after the last 3 hours of sitting here playing it. It really is a awesome game. First game in the last 4-5 months that has sucked me into the game experience this much. So if you guys get a chance to buy it for under $30 then do it. But if they want more then I wouldn't think its worth it. Or if you got a wii and need a VC game that will keep you a busy for a little while then this is the game to get

That game was amazing and addicting for the first two hours or so, but then it started getting frustrating. The way the cities have to develop is very akward and takes too much time and the jumping during the side scrolling makes the game annoying. Overall it was good, I just wich it fixed those problems so it could stay as fun through out the whole experience.

I was contemplating if I wanted to buy it off of the Virtual Console. I saw the video from ScrewAttack too and it also got me interested.

I managed to beat it after 9 hours. Would have been 7 if I didn't start over a couple times. Anyways the side scrolling parts are basic and fun IMO and when it comes to assembling the city it does suck up a fair bit of time. If your a bit better then the average gamer like me. You'll have no problem with this game.

Its pretty forgiving in difficulty imo. Like if you lose all your health in the side scrolling parts you just exit and go back to your sky palace thing and start over by re entering the level. And when your assembling your city with the angel charcter. After you beat the side scrolling parts you go into building the city. You can get attacked by air monsters. So you gotta move fast in the later areas while attacking and building at the same time. But if you lose all your health as a angel your town will be left open for attack from the monsters. And you can't do anything till your health regens slowly over a couple mins.

When your done the game you unlock a "secret" option you can't see unless you press a couple different buttons. Which is professional mode. ITs all the side scrolling sections from the entire game back to back and you play with the stats that you finish the game with. So on your playthrough you'll be more inspired to waste even more time getting everything so the pro setting is a bit easier to play. Since this time all the enemys have double HP.

If you want a unquie experience and got money to throw out there. Then you won't be dissapointed. You could do by sampling a game elsewhere and determining from the first 10-20 mins if you want to buy it. Since that is what I do with about 70% of my game purchases.

I had the same dilemma. I decided to pass on it though. It was a great game to beat back in the day, but I didn't think it was great enough to drop money to play again. But if you have never beat it, I would download it.

While not the greatest game ever, Act Raiser is a unique blend of side-scrolling action (similar to the gameplay of Castlevania) and city-building sim that no other game has managed to duplicate since the original Act Raiser game. I owned this game on the Super NES and beat it in around 6 hours when I was younger and also downloaded it on the Wii Virtual Console to relive the good memories. The action portion is definitely the better part of the game, but it's innovation, music and overall appeal make it a game that I wish a game company would either update and re-release or make an Act Raiser 3.

Great game, too short though. Since it was a SNES launch game, its one of those games that really marked the transition from NES to SNES in my opinion. Would have liked it better if it had a few more hours of gameplay though.

Heck, I remember reading about this game in Nintendo Power all those years ago, had bought the magazine at a flea market on a Saturday morning (odd that I can recall that much detail) Anyway, I was completely excited for the game and for the upcoming Super Nintendo system. I actually did like the part where you have to build that cities and developed each one to the fullest. I think I actually still have my original cartridge, will have to check.

This game was fun but not that long or challenging. It was definatly a rent for me back in the day.

i remember this game and really enjoyed it. its sequel was really good as well but a little tougher and cut out the city building sections.
