Any Metroid fans think they should make a new game on Samus and all of the Metroid world? I think they should..

It's all about interpretation from another developer that is given the green light to create their own vision of Metroid. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Some people liked it, others hated it. Me? I haven't tried the game yet to know whether or not it's good.

same here as long as its not like other m. would be cool if nintendo did a new super mario bros/ donkey kong returns type metroid, you know 3d in 2d? that would give it a more old school metroid feel, without the clunky controls of other m. but id prefer less motion gimmicks. like new super mario bros did. all you did in that was jump and run no "shake wiimote to shoot fireballs" except for they did use motions to pick up items and enemies/allies. just button 1 to shoot your beam and button 2 to jump. and i would prefer the b button for missiles, or better yet the a button, well that would be a bit annoying. and return to fusion's wall jumping mechanics so it doesnt make the game exceptionally easy. wow i typed too much. lol

you can be inspired by a game and still make something different. thats exactly what retro did with metroid prime. there were obvious connections with the 2D metroids (even beyond characters/lore), but retro still made a game that was very different from those games. im not saying nintendo should just milk the primes (although, there are certainly worse games to milk...). there was just a lot of things retro did right that shouldnt be thrown away or only half baked.

Just so that I understand, are you talking about Metroid Prime or The Other M?

If it's about the Other M, it wasn't Retro who created The Other M, it was a team effort that consisted of Nintendo, Team Ninja, and D-Rockets. Those people are soley responsible for creating The Other M. If there's anyone to blame, at least in your mind, it should be them. Retro had NOTHING to do with the Other M.

im saying that future metroid games should take note of retro's work on metroid prime. im praising retro. and yes, i know who made other m.

You are looking one of the biggest fans on the site. Though, with Hunters, Corruption and Other M... I'm beginning to lose faith that Nintendo can carry on the franchise anymore... especially after Sakamoto's job he did to Samus' personality basically turning her from a badass bounty hunter into a melodramatic teenager. They could have done it right, but they didn't. The last great Metroid was Echoes. I definitely want a sequel to Fusion on this next Nintendo console. 2D, HD, and bigger and better than Super Metroid.

I'm a huge fan, even of the Hunters game on DS, which seems to not be very popular. I haven't tried Other M, but I want to, despite all the complaining I've seen about it.

I'm also starting to worry that Nintendo is going to let go of the franchise in some time. The sales figures are already prettty low to begin with, and Other M killed a lot of hope for many fans. If one of the guys that made Super Metroid was onboard for that project and did'nt get it right, who are we left to count on?

I'd love to see a sequel to Fusion on the 3DS- I feel like they could do so much with the backstory of Fusion and the power of the new handheld.

simple, make another game in the spirit of the gameboy advance and super metroid games that is HD 2D graphics with 3D interlays continuing the really awesome metroid STORY. The next step of progression for the series would DEFINITELY be Space exploration with Samus's ship. the ability to travel to different galaxies and planets would be SUPREME. also, allow her ship to get upgrades, etc and space combat. then let the 2D action kick in when she gets off the ship. Tracking bounties and mysterious ruins throughout the game with star coordinates to gather suit / ship upgrades and artifacts, or clues to her next mission etc. Damn, I should become a game designer. i would make the metroid series what it needs to be.

I would really like to see Mother Brain come back. The fact that Metroids have played a very small role in recent Metroid games is kinda odd.

If the space combat is done well, then yeah that could be pretty cool.

Honestly, I don't see how that's a fact when we've seen, in Metroid 2 and Super Metroid, what that one metroid contributed in the storyline.

I guess I'm trying to say that even if their role is small in recent Metroid games, they still are significant.

I guess, but it seems like lately Dark Samus is more important than the Metroids. She was cool in Fusion, but using the same motif for the Prime series was a little repetitive. I love the Prime series and all, but I hope they leave Dark Samus dead.

That's their prerogtive though. I didn't mind Dark Samus at all when she was announced as one of the villians in the Prime games. It keeps things interesting for me. One of these days, though, I will have to go back and pick up all three Metroid Prime games. I went through the first (that one turned out to be one of my favorite games on the Gamecube - Retro nailed Metroid in 3D correctly!) and I still have the desire to go through both 2 and 3.

2 was by far my favorite. The campaign was great, and the multiplayer was a lot of fun
