By this I mean having a friend over and you work together on a game even when it's single player and only one of you is using a controller at one time. For games that don't rely on pure skill and/or reflex, the kind that has more of an emphasis on problem solving, I find this to be almost preferable. Leads to better problem solving, lets you think outloud, and just gives you an opportunity to be social and spend time with friends.
I was playing Limbo with a friend last night and realised how much more I was enjoying it than if I was just sitting alone with the game. You know, switching back in forth with the controller, saying "oh try going up there first!". Back in the day another friend and I played through Ocarina of Time together, and we would rotate the controller between overworld, temple and boss segments. Great fun.
Anyone else feel this way?
