Just wondering if there is anyone here that doesn't play games online or probably does once a blue moon but usually plays them single player? Thanks

Thanks for the responses! I was starting to wonder if I was the only single player mostly person. I recently tried my first CONSOLE online game which was Killzone 1 for the ps2. Man I played that crap for about 20 minutes online and stopped. Just isn't my thing really. Guess its mostly because the communiy is dead but still..I didn't find it fun really. The only thing I ever play online really is Diablo 2 and that is very fun. But mostly for me its single player stuff.

These days I play more offline than online but thats because I have a long list of games to beat right now so i don't have as much time to play online when I have offline things to beat. I used to play online more than offline. I have no real preference, some things work better for some games.
Usually. The only times I really go online is if I feel obligated to because of my friends. Oh, and GHIII and World Tour (those are fun to play online).
I play about 99% of my games single player and offline. I might play Left 4 Dead online on very rare occasion (these days) but in general I have become worn out on the XBL community. People that begin and end their sentences with the word 'Dude!" really grate on my nerves. I just got a PS3 and haven't tried playing anything online yet but I expect it will be more of the same.
All of my games are single player except for four: Metal Slug, Soul Calibur, Super Smash Brothers Melee and Tony Hawk. And I only play them offline because my country has one of the worst and slowest connections in the world. I have not played one online game which doesn't lag because of me, I have to litteraly put the computer next to the console to just get a connection because there is no possible way for it not to lag.
I used to play tons and tons of multiplayer. Diablo, then Starcraft, then Diablo II (and others, but those the longest and most consistently). But then I started to realize how much more fun it was to play a game where you didn't have 50% of the other people cheating in some form or another (worst in Diablo I and Starcraft). That and I noticed in those games there were a lot of d-bags that would go out of their way to anger people. That was mostly in Diablo and Diablo II.
Single player you don't have to worry about that bullcrap. Or if you play multiplayer with just people you know, same thing. I think the most fun I've ever had playing video games was playing through Oblivion (it's a single player only game).
Yeah, that would be me. I find the general attitude of the online gamer to be pretty disgusting. Playing games with those people just isn't fun.RandolphScottYou're correct about the online communities, especially some on Xbox Live with the popularity of some games (COD4 was my worst experience of such a thing) it seems like you're guaranteed a really child minded player often. As for the topic, yes I do play single player games more often than I do play online.
Yeah, that would be me. I find the general attitude of the online gamer to be pretty disgusting. Playing games with those people just isn't fun.RandolphScottSame here. Thats my main reason I dont play multiplayer very much. This generation of consoles was actually my first experience with online gaming. First impressions started off nicely playing Virtua Tennis 3 online. It was fun and noone insulted anyone. Mostly because it's rare for people to wear a headset in that game. Then I got Gears of War and tried that online. Absolutely awful community. The insults I constantly heard was unbelievable. Racist comments and hearing the word **** every few minutes is unacceptable with me. After a while I got sick of hearing that crap so stopped wearing my headset. Unfortunately you can still hear the voices without having to wear it, plus people moan at you and insult you for not wearing a headset. Didn't take long before I got sick of it altogether and stopped playing that game and almost every other game I have that's online. The sad thing is that without hearing all that crap the game is actually fun.
It's not like this with every game I've played online on 360 though. I generally dont hear too many insulting comments on Halo 3 and GTA IV, which are the only games I really enjoy online this generation. Sports and fighting games obviously dont have this problem either because hardly anyone wears a headset, but I generally found those kind of games got boring quite quickly online. I'd imagine if UFC 2009 didn't lag all the time I'd still be playing that regularly. Mostly because I'm actually good at that game lol. Well I've also got some issues with people who spam submissions online all the time. Whenever you take your opponent down they can just click the right stick to try a submission. Since I main brock lesnar and my opponents usually use frank mir if I try anything other than a brute force escape I seriously risk getting submitted. It would have been better if transition blocking also blocked submission attempts. I've never actually been submitted online, but it just means my takedowns are worthless when my opponents do this. It's kind of broken imo. Still, fix this and the lag in next years game and you've got a game I just might enjoy playing regularly online.
I've really only been online to try it initially and get some easy trophies. I've spent about 2-3 hours online over my whole gaming career, and I don't like it much. I prefer singleplayer every time. That's why I don't like games that lack a story or a decent singleplayer element.
I like for games to have story that engages you and keeps you wanting to see what happens next. Most online gaming consists of nothing but repetition with no story element whatsoever. Bioware is my favorite developer of story-driven games, so maybe I'll get more into online gaming with their Old Republic MMO.
I enjoy playing split-screen with family members, but that's about it.
I can't afford to game online, bills first, everything else last. I'm fine with single player and wish more games had solid single player modes instead of the increasing 'online only' nonsense.

I'm also a single player gamer. I won't even play a campaign co-op with a friend until I've beaten the game by myself first. I like to take my time with games so I can really appreciate them.
I'd say half and half. I started online play with Quake and like that type of game but also prefer a compelling singleplayer rpg from time to time.
I'm all on single player, which in my opinion, shouldn't have to be an arguement since I find that singleplayer is what defines a game, for me at least. Aside from that, though, there are some games with very fun multiplayer that I lay from time to time, but usually not for long. I'm very into storytelling and settings and everything.
