I already preferred Sony's exclusives over Microsoft's so the PS4 is my first pick anyway. However, I did enjoy some of Microsoft's exclusives on the 360 so if Microsoft changed their policies I may get a One in the future. PS4 still comes first though.
I've had a great time with my 360 for all of these years, but I'm at the point where I'm done with it once my current subscription to LIVE runs out. Â Between the policies, forced Kinect, and higher price point. Â I think the last game I'll purchase for it will be GTA V, but it'll soon be time enough for me to move on.
Absolutely. Microsoft is still too pricey and they have shown only passing interest in me as a consumer the last three years.Â
I was done with them before they revealed themselves to be scumbags.
Yeah, the change of their policies won't help them much in my favor, never had an XBox or Xbox360 and so neither do I need a XBox One.
[QUOTE="DarkCatalyst"]Of course I'm still getting a PS4. I'm just getting an Xbox One to go alongside it now.dkdk999Isn't it kind of a rip off to buy close to the same technology twice though ? Couldn't give half a sh*t about the technology used, I'm paying the cost of admission for access to two new sets of game libraries.
With the DRM and 24-hour online check-ins, I was pretty set on never buying one...without that stuff, there's a much better chance that I'll get one...still not happy about the unnecessarily forced Kinect, though...
I'm pretty sure I'll get the PS4, first...think I'll wait for a price drop or second version of XBO before getting it...
Only way they can trump Sony now is if they all of a sudden announce no Online Gaming Fee anymore ^^
That would be kind of hilarious seeing MS Countertrumping Sony after Sony countertrumped MS xD
I don't think MS is THAT desperate yet. Besides, they know they're still making bank for charging for Live, and I don't see them giving that up. Would be funny as hell if they did, though.Only way they can trump Sony now is if they all of a sudden announce no Online Gaming Fee anymore ^^

same here, i am so happy that i actually might get to play Forza 5With the DRM and 24-hour online check-ins, I was pretty set on never buying one...without that stuff, there's a much better chance that I'll get one...still not happy about the unnecessarily forced Kinect, though...

Sure kind of annoys me though that we have to buy both to play all the games.
It's cool that Microsoft got rid of such policies, and this changee may make me want to get an Xbox One more sometime in the future, though I'm leaning on getting a PS4 first.
All that online and used game junk was really the least of my problems with the Xbox One - though the "it ceases to function after 24 hours without online check-in" was utterly absurd.
Still -
A)Â one-third less graphics processing power than the PS4
B)Â forced Kinect purchase
C)Â Sony's exclusives throughout this generation have been vastly more interesting to me than Microsoft's, and I have no doubt the same will be true next gen.
I'm having a ton of fun with my gaming PC now. I'll get a PS4 next year probably.
Still planning on the PS4. Despite two steps in the right direction (disposal of DRM and ability for their to be used games), there still is mandatory Kinect which is a major turnoff for me. Not to mention Sony boasts the better exclusive lineup in my opinion, and my choice is set on the PS4 at the moment.Â
As always: I am going to buy the system with the games that most appeal to me, and since Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica and Quantic Dream only develop for Playstation, the choice is a no brainer for me.Black_Knight_00
This is how I feel.
Plus the push Sony has made with indie developers is a big one for me. They seem to appeal to a wider range of games, while the Xbone is still a device that was revealed talking about television the entire time.
I'm happy MS changed their policies, but the PS4 is my launch console of choice and that's that. I want it for whatever Naughty Dog and other first party studios are going to make.Â
I'm still gonna get a PS4 first but now I'll at least probably pick up an Xbox at some point down the roadÂ

Same here. Plus any company willing to mind fvck their consumers like that is not a company I'm willing to spend my hard earned money with.
to be honost it's good for gamers that they changed their policies.Â
Â
i'm still going PS4 primarily really for Sony's first party and i like their exclusives more. it's cheaper sure (for someone in my position a 100 dollars extra isn't that much), and it's insides are technically better then the PS4.Â
Â
Â
All i could think when i heard the news was "guess they couldn't eloquently state where the benefits of all this DRM business was for"
Pretyy much this. Add in Sony's great first party games and the PS4 is an easy choice for me.Absolutely. Microsoft is still too pricey and they have shown only passing interest in me as a consumer the last three years.Â

Still getting a PS4. What's to stop Microsoft from doing another 180--and thus a full 360--and re-implementing this? They've shown their (amputated) hand.
Regardless, even if they manged to launch at a same or lower price than Sony, you have the software issue. Microsoft has shown 2 consecutive generations that they can't support their platform long term with exclusive titles.
Since MS changed it's policies I will end up with both consoles at some point. The only real decision is which one I am buying first. The games on the XBone interest me more so I'm leaning towards it first. I have both pre-ordered so I will decide as more info is released.
Much like last generation, a PlayStation and a half decent PC will have 98% of the gaming industry covered. No reason to get an Xbox until they stop being a port machine for PC games.
Japan is going to slip further away from MS this generation as well, so if I want to play fighting games or JRPGs there's only really going to be one place to go for the most part.
The fact that they thought they could force this crap on us in the first place proves that they thought we were all dumb. It shows that they didn't care about the consumer or they wouldn't have had it in the first place. They only changed it after the low pre-orders so it shows they only care about numbers. I'm no dunce, I know companies only care about numbers and not people, but the fact that they tried this crap in the first place shows how out of touch they are and how idiotic they think the general public is, like we'll all just bend over and take it if it has "Microsoft" or "Xbox" on it.

This is my big question. How much of the X1 exclusive library is going to be on PC also? I'd much rather put that $500 into my PC than an X1, anyway. As it stands, I pre-ordered an X1, no money down, just in case something makes me want to grab it between now and launch. I fully paid off my PS4 pre-order, though. It's Sony's inhouse that sold me on the PS4, not what MS did. MS is still going to have to convince me that a PC and PS4 is not enough.
Yep. PS4 will likely be my only choice. But not at launch. I was considering the WiiU, but balk.
I had enough of MS. I'll be sticking to the 360 for the long run, but that's about it. I could live without Halo and Forza.
