hello. in the recent gameplay demo of asassins creed, we saw what looked like a targetting system. usually targeting systems have some crosshairs over the character you are facing, or the camera looks on to that character. but this game seemed to have a strange targettign look to say the least. white/blue mist appears around the character your targetting, and also (more strangly) what looks like small text. i did hear that assassins creed was actually about a man who was sent into the past, i thought that was nosense, but seeing this futuristic apperance of the targeting system makes me think it could actually be about time travel.
I believe this is only in the pre-release demos , it helps the programmers and artists see the main characters you interact with in the game, as the game is unfinished.

Doesn't it have to do with that spoiler that was dropped a few months ago by one of the voice actors? I would say it here, but I don't know how to spoiler tag.

Yeah some lady who was doing some voice overs for the game spoiled the plot. Then that Jade person came out and denied it. A few weeks later at a live demoing the main character died and woke up in some place that had advanced technology. There was a visor covering the mains face and it had genetic memories written on it or something like that. They still refuse to talk about the sci-fi stuff even though it's pretty much out in the open.

It probably has to do with its futuristic connections. If the story does involve someone remembering their ancestor's past then the targeting system makes sense to me. If he is remembering specific people being killed anomalies might form or some weird visual effect might appear showing that his ancestor is targeting a specific person, showing significance. I think I thought about this too deeply :P
Dude, they hint at the genetic and chemistry stuff in the trailer even. At the end when it has the Asassin's Creed logo on a white background, if you pause it at just the right time the logo is replaced with what looks like a molecular model. I didn't look at it too much though, so I'm not sure what exactly it was.
