[QUOTE="AcidSoldner"]Circle of the Moon by far.GreekGameManiac

What's with you ppl and CotM?

Fanboyism to the max....

I personally prefer Aria, but there is nothing remotely fanboyish about preferring Circle of The Moon. They're all quality titles and more folks in this thread just so happen to like COTM the best. I've never liked the term "fanboy" to begin with.

This is very simple to explain. Symphony of the Night was the greatest Castlevania game of all-time in my book. So any game that feels a lot like SotN is gonna be a winner for me.

The same would also apply to other favorites of mine. I like Metroid Fusion better than Metroid Zero Mission because it felt more like Super Metroid. And I'd LOVE for someone to make a game in the same vein as the King's Field series (and don't point the Souls games out to me, they aren't the same at all, I think I was the only one severely disappointed in the games because I heard how similar they were to the KF games, and they aren't)

Emerald_Warrior

Did i say the opposite? no,actually that's what I said.

You like it for the wrong reason.

Don't be stuck in the past, games change.

Accept it already.

If you can't admit that,you're a lier,period.

For real? I'm a liar? Why on God's green Earth would I lie about this? To try and hang with the cool kids who like Circle of the Moon? Like it's all some consipiracy against you and Aria of Sorrow? I mean really, come on! Can you really not accept the fact that I, and others here prefer Circle of the Moon? It's not like Aria of Sorrow and Circle of the Moon are that far apart. They use the same basic gameplay formula. This isn't like the difference between say Lords of Shadow and Castlevania Judgement here.

You're right, but you still like it just because it reminds you of SotN.

What do u mean
"so what"?

I already told you what.

Liking it cause it reminds you of an older entry in the series?

Not the best of reasons to like it,exactly.

It's not exactly a wrong reason to like it either.

I've only played Circle of the Moon from the GBA games, so it seems a bit unfair if I was to say it's the best.

Circle of the Moon was fantastic, multi-featured, and very well done. I've spent a fair amount on it and it's my favorite of the 3. I purchased the 2 pack of Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow.

Aria of Sorrow is my 2nd place choice and Harmony of Dissonance is my 3rd.

Each game brought something fun and new to the series and I loved the feel of each of the games, but overall I'd say I enjoyed Circle of the Moon the most.

The Classic NES Series: Castlevania. Can't beat the original in my opinion.

I couldn't stand Aria of Sorrow, i'm not a huge Castlevania fan anyway (which I find strange because I LOVE Metroid, and other MetroidVaina style games), but that's by far the worst of the ones I have played, the other two GBA ones where better, and SotN was OK, outside of those 4 though I've not played anything else in the series.

No, it's called YOU being narrow-minded and not accepting anyone else's opinion other than your own. An opinon can't be "wrong".

Emerald_Warrior

No,i never said i mind that you like it,i just said that it's just for the wrong reasons.

A quality of a game is judged in an objective way,not subjective.

And for the record,YES,you CAN have a wrong opinion, sorry.

I'm not "narrow-minded",you just can't accept what I'M saying.

Unless a reply is worthy, this will be my last for this subject.

I have no problem with you liking Aria the best, you have a problem with me a few others on this thread liking CotM the best. So I don't see how it's me not being accepting here.

It seems that CoTM got the most praise in this thread. So am I to understand that HoD is the worst GBA one?

WhySoLimp

It's abit underrated,imo.

I loved the darker style, and the 8-bit-like music.

@EW.Ok,i give in.

You like it cause you like it,and that's ok. (though still you like it better for the wrong reason)

Can i atleast ask you this.

Why there have to be certain elements in order for a Castlevania game to be....Castlevania?

Why? just because of one game you liked in 1997?

And what would those features be,iyo?

Personally,i i'm not too bothered by changes in the gameplay, and removal of RPG elements is ok.

As long as it has to do with a guy killing Demon,Vampires, and other creatures.

So if they took Bloodrayne, change the MC to a guy, and slapped on the Castlevania name on it, you'd be fine with it? :P

I like the pre-SotN Castlevania games just fine. They were some fantastic 8-bit and 16-bit platformers. I just liked SotN a whole lot more when it came it out.

To answer your question: To me a Castlevania game to must have horror elements, a gothic look to it, monsters to fight, and a rocking soundtrack (this is a MUST for Castlevania games). But if it has the RPG-elements and Metroidvania design to it, then it's all the better for me. I love feeling like my character is truly growing in strength, and I love the exploration aspect of the later Castlevania games.
