Which company do you think makes the best Console.

I personally think Nintendo, despite some issues. But the thread title can have multiple meanings. For example Sega was notorious for rushing their console hardware which also lacked stuff the competition had, Sony hit the right spot with the PS1 but made PS2 and PS3 almost overt complicated and Microsoft's consoles remind more of stripped down PCs (still very good performance for consoles). So yeah, it's a matter of preference really.
The Sega consoles seemed like they had really good build quality. Nintendo was pretty consistent regarding this as well, although I never liked the original NES design.

Actually it's the other way around. Nintendo and Sony have great quality while Sega and Microsoft don't.

bigM10231
really? I only once encountered a problem with my phat ps2...all the playstations (psone phat, ps2 slim, ps3) have worked just fine :)
I think somebody is showing a little fanboyism ;)
(i did vote nintendo though because I like the classics)

I'm on my 3rd PSone and 3 PS2 and my PSP is dying without having put all that much strain on it. I think he has a valid point on the reliability.[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="JoetheUndying"]

Sega consoles are built like tanks. except for the dreamcast , which sounds like a small jet fighter taking off at times. that said, I think Sony and Sega are the best.when you think about it , Atari also gets a mention since in terms of reliability, many of the 30 year old 2600s still work, which is something .
heck , my PS2 died on me 3 times in the space of 7 years
Well now, I got my PS1 back in '97, I was just a tadpole back then but I knew what I wanted the moment I saw it. My PS1 and I were inseperable and I damn near dragged that thing to hades and back and well, it started to show towards the end but if you talked real pretty to it and gave it some time, that little machine would get up and run me some of those old games long enough to satisfy. She weren't in no great shape when the PS2 came out but it still worked and we had one hell of a ride.
Now my PS2 came around, oh lesse now, must have been the summer of 02. No, tell a lie, it must have been more like 03. Yep, sometime about then. It was on the cusp of the year so forgive me if I don't right remember the exacts. But if it were possible I must have played that little thing even more than I played the PS1, being that I had a lot of free time when I was growin' up. Oh those summer days would go on and on. Why I remember I damn near didn't stop when I got Kingdom Hearts out of the box. Yep, and you know I still play that ol' thing from time to time because, as far as I can see, there just aint no library like it.
So it's '10 now, getting close to '11, and I've moved up in the world and I've got myself a big beast of a PS3 to pass the hours but I've been playing on sony for more than ten years. Heck, I was playin' sony before I even got my own play station. Not one of those machines ever truly let me down and after how I went with that PS1, I'm surprised the thing still turns on.
So you go on and tell me that Sony machines don't last. That's your right to do so, but I know. I got my memories.
It would definitely be between Nintendo and Sony. Sega's only good console was the Genesis, and Microsoft automatically gets disqualified because 70% of their consoles burn out like supernovas.

Metal_Mario99
the original Xbox was very reliable
the PS2 had very poor reliability
neither sony nor Microsoft deserve the spot
also, Sega made great consoles and most of them very reliable, the only exception being the dreamcast

Dreamcasts get dirty looking easily due to the white color. Games are easily pirated for them. And they are very loud. But unreliable isn't something I've heard about them. Mine is still alive and kicking. Yet I'm on my 2nd XBox 360 and my 3rd PS2 (1st slim edition).[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="JoetheUndying"]

hey you know i went through 2 ps2s and 4 ps1s but only 1 genesis 0 360 0 XBOX so your wrongWell, my original PS1 and PS2 (and they're the ones that probably got the most playtime) still work to this day, while both my Genesis and Dreamcast broke years ago. In fact, of all the systems I've ever owned, the Sega ones were the only ones that ever had any problems. I even dropped my PS1 down the stairs once and it still worked.
I guess everyone will have different experiences... But I think we can all agree on one thing: Microsoft consoles are the least reliable. :P

actually the original xbox was built like a tank
So Microsoft's consoles have gotten progressively worse instead of better.
Metal_Mario99
so did sony when they went from the PS1 to the PS2
so did sega when they went from the Saturn to the Dreamcast
so did nintendo when they went from the N64 to any disc based console

I don't remember the GameCube overheating and melting itself into slag 70% of the time. And my Wii is fine too.
The thing with the Dreamcast is that the western models are only better than the original Japanese model with the lousy slow modem.
Any Japanese Dreamcast model manufactured afterwards is a whole lot better than the western models. They offer noticeably better performance and reliability.
Although to tell you the truth, I've never had any problems with my noisy 1998 launch Dreamcast, neither.

your wrong with sega and nintendo on that. you can smash a gamecube so much that it seems it wont work but then it does. i heard less problems with the dreamcast than ps2. i went through 3 n64s but 1 gamecube but that gamecube was stolen.Over every generation it's been by far Nintendo. Out of 5 consoles, they've only had one i didn't like. MS has been pretty good so far, but both the original and 360 have had terrible build quality. PS2 and PS3 are nice, but PS1 was pretty mediocre, Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast were all good, but not really that amazing either.

If you never had a problem with the dreamcast then lucky you, but its pretty much general knowledge that the dreamcast did not have the best reliability
I have and still use regularly my PS1 from 1996 and it still works fantastically! I've never had to send it in for repairs or repair it myself...15-years without stopping and it has quite a few parts compared to the older consoles...I think it's reliable. I still own my first PS2 as well...same story. Nevertheless, I disagree bigM10231the people who voted sony dont realise that their console reliability sucks. this is about reliability not games so anyone who doesnt vote sega or nintendo shouldnt play games in the first place
