This. I'd take any of the Dualshock controllers over any other controller any day I think. The SNES controller was pretty great as well. You cannot go wrong with a Playstation controller.

I know you love the Genesis, but it has a POS controller IMO. The D pad is garbage and all the buttons feel weak. Not a fan of the 3 button set up either. My favorite is probably the PlayStation 1 original dual shock. I also prefer the PS3 controller over the 360 one. It's just extremely comfortable and feels more natural.I've always hated the playstation/dual shock controller from the size and texture to the analaog placement. Hell, even those stupid shape labeled buttons annoy me.
The 3 button SEGA Genesis controller is my favorite, because it fits nicely in my hands; it feels very well made; and the D-Pad is just unmatched IMO.

how can you ever name a joystick? they are notoriously bad on the hands, often causing blisters
Wha? ...also the Saturn 3d controller was crap, just like the Dreamcast. The redesigned 6button Saturn is great though--the squarish one not so much.how can you ever name a joystick? they are notoriously bad on the hands, often causing blisters

Joysticks are awesome, man. I've been using my Gravis one since I was a little kid for my star wars starfighter sims and racing games on the PC.

the saturn 3d and dreamcast controllers have nothing in common. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it. on the contrary
It's garbage. It's made of cheap plastic and the analog knob is fckng horrible. The Dreamcast is the same deal. The dc pad analog triggers are bogus--they get this nasty springy sound. Yes I have used both and Dreamcast is actually one of my favorite systems.I agree with whoever said goldstar 3do controller
Â
pic of saturn 3d controller, that no one has named here yet:

wish sega had kept this design for dreamcast controller

I'll have to say the Super Nintendo controller with the DualShock in a close second. The SNES controller has set the standard for game controllers today.

That they are both made of cheap parts? That's not an opinion.Â
I've always loved the playstation/dual shock controller from the size and texture to the analog placement (symmetrical like human hands). the dpad especially.
SNES a close second.

Only because stupid people don't realise they're supposed to be put on a flat surface.

Re: Megadrive controller quotes.
It was the first actual console i played, and i remember that at the time i thought it was a neat comfortable design. The friend who owned the console had 2 controllers, one had 6 buttons, the other was as pictured. He was hardly going to let me use the better controller was he?!

Open one up. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see they are cheaply made. Its all made of cheap plastic--it's why they are so light.[QUOTE="bultje112"]

that doesn't change how you get blisters on the side of your hands when playing a lot.

ah I see, you have no sources. it came straight from your thumb again(a quick google search showed nothing...). and cheap plastic isn't ligher than expensive plastic or whatever. dude seriously lol.

It's called common sense. I've opened one up to clean it. Trust me, open up one of your controllers and you'll be surprised.Might be the Dualshock 4 in the not too distant future.
For now it's the Wii U pro controller, followed by the 360 gamepad.
I ****ing love the gamecube but the controller is far from perfect. First off, the wave bird has that stupid bulk under the stick where the hand space usually is and the battery cover dinks back and forth and feels cheap. I prefer my wired black and purple controllers over my wavebird, but I usually use the wavebird for convenience The GameCube controller in generally has strange triggers that are noisy as hell( CLICK CLICK CLICK) and feel cheap. The D-pad is great but it always felt cheaper than the ones used on the original GBAs. The c-stick is pain to use since it's just a little nub, why didn't they just use another analog stick? Was never a fan of the A-B and X-Y setup on this either.wiicube64

The D-Pad is a problem with a lot of controllers. It makes me sad because I still prefer a D-Pad over a thumbstick. The XBox 360, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and N64 all have crappy D-Pads.

N64 d-pad is actually pretty decent I think. Haven't held the controller in a while though.
But hey, at least Sony still cares about the D-pad.

UGH, don't get me started on the 360's D-Pad. That thing is the worst thing ever. Such a great controller too. :\One of the best. For shooters I prefer the Xbox360 controller and also prefer that one for racing games. For other games the PS1 was great.
The Dualshock which debuted in 1997 lasted until today with the Dualshock 3. or whenever the PS3 ends production. Dualshock is still continuing with the changed Dualshock 4 and Playstation 4.
My favorite is the 6-button Genesis controller (model MK-1653). Most comfortable d-pad of all-time.

The d-pad on a Nomad is actually even better! Still not a great handheld but every time I see mind I gotta pick it up and do a few turns on the dpad just to feel it. I wish more people would do the Sega-style d-pads. The round ones feel way more comfortable to me than the cross shaped ones almost everyone else uses. The one exception being, Microsoft which is why this gets my vote for best controller (the S-style controller for Xbox):
Â
Â
I might actually like the duke controllers better but for the location of the black, white, start and select buttons.
