Best / favourite story in a game (LIST ONE ONLY)

I know it's hard, but no 20 game lists. Your top of the pyramid, favourite story in a video game. Mine would have to be Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

The best would take too much consideration to define since there are many games out there with excellent storylines. But my favourite storyline is undoubtedly the one from SEGAGAGA.

I quite enjoyed the story toNeverwinter Nights on the PC, plenty of adventure and storytelling with a few plot twists thrown in for good measure, the character development is also surprisingly good.

*ponders* Hmmmmm...... out of all the stories out of all the games I have played.....I would have to say that .hack 1-4 + .hack GU 1-3 was the most epic and coolest story ever. I had spent 5 years playing an online rpg and when that game came out with its cool Fake MMORPG story it was just sweet as hell.

I think there are other rpg's who did a much better job at creating a world to inhabit and rpg through but as far as story yeah i love .Hack. _AbBaNdOn

Yea, I have to agree. .hack//G.U. vols. 1-3 had such a great storyline. It had me hooked the whole time.

My favourite story in a game would have to go The Legend of Zelda!

Crono Trigger, for me it was original, of course it was my first RPG so after stories like Megaman or TMNT, for me watching a story like Crono Trigger in a Videogame was insane, so great and all, it is my personal favorite.

I cannot avoid to make a comment on MGS3, i love it, is my favorite PS2 game, but, the overall story wasn't that great IMO, it was good and all, but the game really shines until the end.

I think FF7-10 all had some great storylines and plot twists, but it'd be hard to pick. Chrono Trigger also had a great storyline, like the above poster mentioned. And Xenogears was great... *Tries to stop himself before he hits that 20 list the TC mentioned*

But greatest storyline goes to Suikoden 2 by far though.

FFX and MGS4. I just got MGS3 for my PS2 so may change once I play it.

Hard to choose but I'll go with Final Fantasy VI followed by IX.
