Best racing game?

So what do you think was the best racing game on the old-skool systems?

I'd have to say Forza, but with PGR:2 following closely behind. Forza is the best racing sim IMO, and PGR:2 is a good arcade racer.

Need for Speed used to be awesome. I remeber I spent hours playing Most Wanted every day. I'll have to say Need for Speed.

burnout is my favorite series atm

i love the old NFS games, but the underground street racing/prostreet makeover ruined the series imo

but now when i think of it wipeout is much more fun than these car racings

The first racing game I feel in love with was either RAD or RC Pro AM on nes.

Then I loved Rock N Roll racing, RPM Racing, Test Drive the Duel and F-zero for snes.

Then playstation hit and gran tourismo rocked my world. Ridge/Rage Racer was also extremely sweet. Ridge Racer at the arcade was so freaking sweet. If there was something on the N64 I dont remember it or didnt spend very much time with it.

For the ps2 era GT and RR continuted on but then NFS got revamped and blew everything away.

NFS still has a hold on my heart strings. Im crossing my fingers and praying to the game gods that NFS: Undercover wont be a total cluster ----. It looks like an awesome update of Most Wanted but what has me peeing my pants is the fact that they say they have made the cop AI smarter/tougher. I like mixing it up with the cops and then GETTING AWAY more than being arrested personally.....

I wouldnt mind some of that old school flavor where we had weapons and cool tracks but hoping for that is like wishing for a ice cream cone in hell.

i cant answer your poll and i cant give you a straight answer because it depends on peoples tastes

but if i was forced to answer id go for gran turismo
