Best Story in a Game Ever?

So recently im getting a bit bored with constantly playing online , and feel like settling down for a while and enjoy a game (or series) with a story that blows you away.

So i just wanted to know what you lot think about this , what game do you think has the best story ever ?

for me it's zelda oot and mgs4

Xenogears! The story in that game blew me away, and pretty much ruined the stories in all other games for me.

Personally, storyline is very important to me. So here is my definitive list in alphabetical order:

I've always liked FFX's story. It's my favorite game though, so I'm a bit biased.

Silent Hill 2. It's a very deep story that's complex and hard to unravel. There are still people discussing the nature and purpose of certain characters and the town itself.

that's cool. didn't expect that to be on your list though w/ all the other titles you had listed.

I just got Chrono Trigger and let me tell you, that story is gripping! I'd say it's the best story I've ever seen in a videogame. Ocarina of Time is also epic.

I've never really played a game with a decent story. I thought both FFVII and Valkyria Chronicles told their stories very well although the characters were nothing to write home about in either game.

Games are always terrible when it comes to interesting characters.

For me the best history is the Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time

I am going to say Beyond Good& Evil it was a fun game and the story kept you going.
