IGN is throwing a list of best movie movie moments and I sared a couple thoughts n what some games had to offer in "great moments" I can think of some on the top of my head, and well I'd like people to share theirs and why are they so memorable.

Star Fox 64 "don't ever give up my son"

spoilers: afterbeating Andross on the hard path to Venom,Andross self-destructs trying to take dwn Fox McCloud withhim, the screen goes all wite with theblast and for a couple seconds there is nothing in it, suddenly a communication message appears, James (Fox's dead father) saying this line, you have to follow him to get out of the base before it is destroyed and in the end fox and te player is wandering if James was actually there or just a "ghost" or illusion.

A thread like this always comes around every now and then, but I will oblige.

The thing is that its hard to pick some of them. one would definitely be getting on top of the flying Colossi in Shadow of the COlossus. I had never done anything like that in a game before. It stunned me and the whole game will age extremely well. Especially the HD versions.

Another would be the Poseidon boss battle in GOW III from start to finish my jaw was on the floor and didn't come back up for the whole fight. Shame the rest of the game never lived up to the start. Never show all your cards at the start. While it was a killer opening, I feel the rest of the game was rather dull in comparison. But I still loved it.

Another recent favourite moment is a chase in Amnesia. When I opened the door and the guy was right there and I didn't know whether to close the door and run or just run and I panicked and had no idea what to do. It really made my heart race. And no game has done that to me before. It really got emotions going.

Indeed. It was kind of you. :P

As for one of my best video game moments, it may have to be the race to save Nozomi in Shenmue. I remember when I was younger, I was eagerly anticipating the motorcycle gameplay sequence throughout all three discs, because I had seen gameplay footage prior. I think it was the rock music that really made it awesome.

The ending to Portal 2.
I didn't think placing a portal on the moon would work, but it did. I was sucked through the portal and then I was looking at the Earth from the moon, at that point I literally yelled "NO WAY!!!" That part was intense. There are some great minds working at Valve.
Just about any of the pivotal cutscenes in Metal Gear Solid 2 + 3 and 4. The attention to detail in the Metal Gear Solid series was outstanding. I know people complained about the long cutscenes, but I loved them. Every minute is utilized well in a MGS cutscene, it's like watching an action movie. In MGS3, Snake's fight with Ocelot on the plane was a really great scene.

The sniper battle in MGS 3.

The ending of Hitman Blood Money.

The Sniper Wolf/ Cyber Ninja battles from MGS.

The conversation with Sovereign from Mass Effect 1.

I cant really think of anything else right now.

I've actually been compiling a list of these, lame as it may be. There are so many that I just feel like I need to have them noted down, so that I can look back in the future and be like 'ah, yes'.

Final Fantasy 7 and Hitman: Blood Money both had moments that made my list, but one that hasn't been mentioned so far is the cabin defence scene in Resident Evil 4, which was so tense for me I was bleeding out of my ears. THEY JUST. KEEP. COMING.

Most of the moments in Battlefield's multiplayer are amazingly cinematic.

The best part is, it's all player-driven.

Same goes for MAG- it's got an amazing atmosphere at times.

Lately I've been playing Team Fortress 2. Learning weapon combos like the flamethrower+axtinguisher is fun. The best moments are usually single player, but fighting games can be great, too.
