@Lulu_Lulu: then play the game and find out.

@Lulu_Lulu: whatever you say. All I know is I'm almost finished with the game and I've seen nothing that makes it actually bad. It's rewarding, and I love pissing you off by talking about how great it is.
@Lulu_Lulu: the only blind one right now is you because you haven't even played the game and you're criticizing it.
I've recently reached Old Yarhnam and though it's moderately difficult, it can become prohibitively so if you run out of blood vials, which has - unfortunately - happened to me. Now, I can't even make it to any of the boss battles in the area. I'm going to have to return to the level that leads to Father Gascoigne to do some farming.
@Lulu_Lulu: I actually love the game as is, barring a few technical issues and boring chalice dungeons. And so do a bunch of players it seems
@Lulu_Lulu: I see problems. The difference is that what you perceive as a problem isn't such for me. Either because I don't experience it myself or because it's only a problem to elitists like yourself who feel entitled to a game that only caters to you, as evidenced by your incessant need to have every franchise included local co-op (which IMO sucks). Let people enjoy their game without telling them they're wrong.
@mastermetal777:
Yeah I don't want a game to just cater to me.... I want it to cater to cater to any one whos interested in a challenge........
You're the one whos blind to its problems..... sounds to me you don't want it to cater to any one else but yourself...... you're happy... why should From fix something fix you don't see is broken.
@Lulu_Lulu: if they could fix the load times, redesign the chalice dungeons, and the framerate stuttering I'll be a happy guy. I've never had a problem with the combat except for maybe a few instances of hitbox dissonance. I don't find issues with the AI because they actually follow the same ruleset as the player (played it often enough that I can say that is true), and I'm fine with the lack of direction because I feel it more rewarding than being shown the "correct" path all the time.
If you don't like it, that's fine. But to say it's poorly designed is a bit narrow minded. You want poor overall design, play Diablo 3 or even the Thief reboot. The design style of the Souls games is built around patience and precision, not the "everyone wins" mentality most modern games seem to take.
@mastermetal777:
I strongly doubt the enemies follow the same rules..... thats what you said about Dark Souls and that was beyond more than just inaccurate.
If you like stumbling your way through the enviroment then good for you but its definitely a bad design choice..... If you're show the correct path it doesn't mean you have to follow it.... you can still go spelunking just fine.... hell you could do it much more efficiently...... if you like being lost thats fine but your personal preference is just that.... your personal preference.... nothing more.
and last but not least..... Souls games are Trial and Error..... find it funny you can call it precise when you just admitted Bloodborne got hit box issues or the whole lack of Precision in the Previous Games.... it still depends on the Autolock Feature or you can say it demands patience when thats precisely what will get you killed a few of the bosses and many instances in Regular encounters.... hell increasing your stats is more beneficial than patience since this design style iscompletely built around you getting killed by crap you had no way of avoiding unless givin a heads up first.... no amount of patience is going to warn you yhat an enemy is going to grab you until it actually grabs you and instantly kills you.... if yoy had more health you at least stand a chance of surviving not having to deal with the God Awful save system.... yes its awful. it serves no purpose other than to be a nuissance and pad the game's length in the worst way possible.
Now.... if that's what you and all the other masochists like.... then thats cool..... nobody should tell you otherwise..... But this Design Style is a lazy and encompetant wast of time.
@Lulu_Lulu: or it's just a design that just doesn't appeal to you. Whatever your reasons, I'm sure they're valid in your eyes. But that doesn't make it terrible. The game allows all moves to either be dodged or countered, and are easily predicted. It's just not what you prefer. Don't pretend that your design ideas are the absolute way all games should be. That's arrogance.
@firefox59: or maybe they didn't find any of these supposed issues...well, actual issues. Is it ego to enjoy a game so completely that any perceived problems you may have found didn't affect them? That's why reviews should be taken at face value, even mine (this being my post after all).
Maybe all of you have played games that featured different mechanics you liked better. That's fine. But if someone else doesn't feel it's a problem, does it really matter? Let them enjoy the game. I've had very few issues with the game. Do your complaints apply if I never encountered them? Just putting that out there
Of course not, but it seems that gamers, including yourself, are flat out denying that these issues exist (earlier in the thread.) You have to know what I'm talking about and if you don't then that's a shame. The game design is purposeful in making the gamer feel false pride and accomplishment. If you enjoy it that's fine.
I myself have such a ridiculous backlog that I would never play this game. There are many reasons with the main one being that I feel many aspects of the game were purposefully tuned to waste the gamer's time. Someone beat this game in less than an hour, but it takes most people 40. Why? The game is geared towards a trial and error repetitious style of gameplay. You have to repeat many of the game's segments rather than creating a longer game. I can let a lot of things go when it comes to devs, but when I feel they are trying to directly pull shit on the consumer it bothers me too much to purchase the game.
@mastermetal777:
Obviously..... this type of design appeal to any normal human being..... only to people who love getting lost and dying....... its not very clever. And yes aftet being instakilled you can dodge that particular move and get killed by the next one you never saw coming......
Kinda like The Four Kings....... get killed by the Grab.... restart at the bonfire which is in an entirely seperate area of the game then dodge the Grab and get Killed by the AoE.....
Then repeat the process and get ganked by the other Four Kings. Its a waste of time.
@firefox59: Someone beat this game in less than an hour, but it takes most people 40.
To be fair, that guy used a jump trick to skip the majority of the game, exploiting the the hidden path that exists between the clinic (where you start) and the forbidden woods (where the final phase of the game begins). He also used the dupe trick to level up to 100 in about two minutes. Without either of those two things, it's not possible to beat it that quickly. I'm sure there are people who will beat it in under 8 hours if they haven't already, but those people will likely have skipped all the optional areas and bosses...and this is in the spirit of a DS game, so those optional areas are quite large. It's a good size game even without the chalice dungeons.
Lulu, that thing about turning around before you can dodge. Dodging is entirely revamped in this game. It's faster than DS and is more like a hopstep, so it will trigger "instantly" unless you're in an attack animation. But there is input lag, so there's a split second delay between pressing the button and actually dodging. It's not huge, but if you just load into the game and stand in an empty area dodging for a bit, you'll notice the lag.
@Ish_basic:
Yeah I saw.... free cam for a roll and lock on for quick stepping.....
this problem only happens during the turning animation so it can only happen when you're not locked on since your character doesn't turn when locked on to something.....
Anyway it doesn't sound bad.... Dark Souls was much worse since no two areas have consistent framerate so not only is the there input lag.... theres different delays for each area..... so if you're in Dark Root you pretty much have to dodge if an enemy so much as flinches but if you're in some place like The Abyss or Annor Londo you have quicker response. And then theres Gwyn's sword..... you're prettu much Lose 5fps everytime he swings it....
And with that said.... I actually am not really that critical of technical flaws since y'know... PC version....... its the design flaws that bug me the most.

So you've never played this game, and will never play it. But it still bothers you? WTF bro? There is nothing forcing you to repeat segments. I've beaten some bosses on the first try.
Again, you've never even played it yet you have this long/strong opinion. It doesn't make sense.
@mastermetal777:

Yah bro, we already heard your opinion on the matter. Move along
