Something I found to be pretty surprising... When I went to pre-order something at EBGames today, they wanted $64.99. Initially I just figured the global cost went up from $59.99, but in this case, EBGames just wants more money. You can purchase the exact same game in your local community, be it Best Buy, Future Shop, Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, for $59.99. Even the United States subsidiary of EBGames (GameStop) is charging $59.99!

Check it out. You won't believe it:

I pretty much won't be buying from ebgames anymore. I mean its only 5 dollars more but still its the principle of it.

i havent bought games from eb games for over a decade so no loss for me. I order from usually bestbuy/futureshop or amazon.ca

but you should know that the canadian dollar is a bit lower then it was a year ago, its about 90 cents or so to the usa dollar. so games could go up in price 5-10 dollars again like they were several years ago, many were 69.99 when our dollar sucked bad at around 75-80cents.

actually i justed looked at a receipt from Feb 2010 for when I bought Mass Effect 2 from futureshop, it cost $69.99, and on the same order Bayonetta was 59.99. So games could go back up to 69.99 with this poor dollar we have... but even before 2010 things were almost constantly 69.99 for many console games.

Yeah the Canadian dollar has been taking a dump lately which really sucks because I've been really enjoying the price parity with the US. I don't shop at EB but I imagine that it won't be long for the places that I do shop at to start raising their prices.

No offense, but NA have it way too good. Europe pays way more for games than you guys do and where i live i pay 100 bucks for new games, i think it's fair for you guys to pay a little more aswell tbh

@The_Last_Ride: I never understood why it's so much more in Europe.

I'm in Australia and it's the same here, brand new games are priced a minimum of $5 higher when compared to any other stores here. So basically if you chose any other gaming store other than EB Games you're guaranteed to find a cheaper alternative.

I can fix that problem for you.....don't fucking buy the games new at MSRP. You waited a year or more for a game to come out, waiting a month or so more wont kill you and youll get the game cheaper.

Why the hell anyone would actually give lamestop money is beyond me since their prices most of the time can be beaten and if not beaten they are exactly the same. There is NO reason to shop at eb lame or lamestop. Especially considering this is the internet age folks, you can order games from a 100 websites that will bring the game right to your door.

Yeah, me neither and it sucks. 100 bucks for PS+ is a steal if you ask me

I hope it doesn't spread to other stores. Where my Eb Games is (Charlottetown, PEI) there is literally a Future Shop, Toys R Us and a Wal Mart across the road. Oh, and a Target in the same mall that EB Games is in. So yeah, for now I'll cancel my pre-orders and shop elsewhere. Not to mention they want 69.99 for big games like Destiny and Titanfall.

I remember when we had EB Games still. Now, every store I know that was one is just a GameStop now.

Gamestop/EB games are horrible anyways. They'll try as much as they think they can get away with.

I either buy games from Amazon or other places online when there's deals, or in a bigger retail store now and again.
