Invasive measures such as these also cost them quite a bit as well. I do not buy any movies simply because of the 10+ minutes of unskippable ads, FBI warnings, promotions for blu ray, etc. Same thing with a lot of computer games. The pirated version is simply a superior product.
The more you tighten your grip, tenz01, the more customers will slip through your fingers.

You pirate movies to avoid 10 minutes of advertising? I laugh at the outrageous excuses people use to justify theft (yes, piracy=theft). You know what I do when I'm ready to watch a DVD or Blu-Ray? I put it in to start it running and pop some popcorn or hit the head. It's called planning ahead.
I know movie companies and game companies continue to make money, otherwise they wouldn't keep making them, but when you see game studios closing and massive lay-offs in the ones that don't get axed, there's obviously not as much dough being made as a few years ago. That's in large part to our messed-up global economy, but ripping these companies off doesn't help, either.

Where to begin? Copyright infringement is not theft. I never said that I pirated movies, only that I do not buy them. The pirated versions are superior. In other words, both the publisher and the customer are paying more money for an inferior product.Copyright infringement is not theftreason58Legally, yes it is theft. There are two kinds of property: physical and intellectual. Both can be stolen, though one may argue and I personally agree it's not quite the same thing to steal a DVD from a store and download it from the net

I looked it up, and he's right: courts have taken great pains to distinguish copyright infingement from theft. The thing is, copyright infringement's punishments are far worse considering the $300 fine you have to pay for having one illegally downloaded song on your computer vs. the slap on the wrist you get for taking a King Size Butterfinger from a convenience store. But copyright infringement's ok
its been proven time and time again piracy has not hurt dvd sales or game sales. both are doing extremely well argueably the best they have ever been. its also been proven to be a huge waste of time and money. you cannot stop pirates. get over it. it cant be done. if i want to pirate google is my friend i mean thats really the bottom line here. its pointless to try or even think you can. if i want to buy a game i will. if i want to steal a game via piracy i will. and if i prefer a used copy of a game ill get a used copy. publishers need to get over themselves. you want a game to sell well? make it amazing. stop making 6 hour single player games with COD cloned like multiplayer. stop releasing DLC to finish a game. and the use market is amazing. i can trade old games for new ones. i can buy used games that i cant find new anymore(become a fan of the series). and gamespot the largest game company retailer gets business its really an all around win the used market is. anyone notice its the crappy games that need an online pass? smackdown, homefront, ,most of EA games? i mean really do we see a trend here?kayoticdreamzI don't think there really is any way to prove that pirating doesn't hurt game sales. There are too many variables and you cannot immediately draw a cause/effect conclusion. All I know is there are potential loss in sales when a person has a choice of buying a game or pirating it.
