@Black_Knight_00: Shakespeare reference -and- made fun of Tidus for looking like a girl. Two hit pun combo!
I've used that joke like five times before on the forums and I think you're the first person who got it.

I wouldn't say that any character is ever really bad enough to ruin an entire game. There are some terrible characters out in the game world, but I never really felt like I hated a game because of one poorly written or annoying character
Only two that I can think of are Kratos from the God of War games and Marumaro from Blue Dragon. They weren't enough to ruin the games for me though.
Bayonetta. I have no interest to play the game because of it.
Also cloud and aerith from ff7.
Why exactly?

Well, next time I feel the need to make a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern joke, I know who my target audience is.
Fi is an annoying bitch but even that and the item pickups didn't fully ruin the game, just made it a lot worse..
It's infuriating because otherwise that game is pretty great overall, and they went out of their way to add that annoying crap
Still hoping Nintendo re releases that game on Wii U and fixes it. It's begging for the HD treatment as well
No character is bad enough to ruin an entire game on their own. Anybody who says otherwise needs to get some perspective.
I was going to say "almost ruin the entire game" in the title but thanks to Gamespot's idiotic character restrictions I had to cut it down.

Don't like them. Hated Cloud from the get go and Aertih is just meh with an overrated death scene.

I'm right there with you. While the core gameplay was solid, I never beat the original Bayonetta because I found the character to be so obnoxious I didn't want to keep playing. She's annoying at best and a hyper sexualized charicature of what's wrong with the gaming industry at worst. Everything about the character design screamed "PLEASE, WE ARE DESPERATE TO START A NEW IP AND WE THINK THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT IS TO PANDER TO HORNY TEENAGERS!". Bayonetta evokes the old Chris Rock argument of "I love rap music but I'm tired of defending it" for me. Everytime I try to convince someone that video games are indeed a form of art on par with television or movies, a naked Bayonetta comes flying in attacking monsters with stripper pole dance moves and stomping on enemies with a giant high-heeled boot made out of her pubes to destroy any shred of credibility the "video games as art" argument has.

Everyone always comes at with with "it's empowerment, not over sexualization/objectification" line, but I just can't see this. Everything about these games screams to me to appeal to prepubescent adolescent in the portrayal of the main character. Nearly everything. I find myself shaking my head when I play them. The camera angles, the moves, everything screams sex and nothing but sex. That does not define female empowerment to me, and if that is what the definition depends on, then I wish to be no part of it anyhow.

So you have no real criticisms beyond "meh, don't like them".
Gotcha.

Oh yeah now I get it judging from your sig. What more criticisms do you want? Cloud was a very boring character. No personality, no emotion etc etc. I would've loved if Zack was the main character. As for Aerith I mean I don't even know why people like her.
