Check out my PS2!! Its so messed up but still works!!

Well the laser started to scratch disks so i replaced the laser with a newer one and now it works like its brand new!

Link Whats left of the buttons ej and reset buttons. But i swear it still works and is fully functional. OH also it is an original PS2 Also! Got it like a month after launch

Ingenious. You should consider Mechanical or Computer Engineering as a profession. I tried doing nearly the same thing, and now....mine doesn't do jacksh**. But that was a launch system after 5 years, so it was a tolerable outcome.YourChaosIsntMe

Strangely enough i had a chance to do something like Engineering in the Military but i chose Infantry because i like guns better than working on Computers and other things like that all day

Interesting. You could still apply mechanical engineering to arms development. A highly profitably marriage of the two.

Damn it looks like it went through hell. Did your friend cut up the case to get to the laser? He should've tried unscrewing the case. I'm like you - as long as it works it's all good. I've fixed up a couple of PS2s before some just by cleaning the laser, a second one by changing the laser output a bit.

What happened to the case? I get that the laser died, but it looks like it fell off the back of a truck... that was driving through a minefield... during an earthquake...

So just about 2 weeks ago i got a new Laser (with the black cover) from a friends non working system and now it reads all disks new and old even scratched with the ring from the old laser Like Brand Spanken new! If i had the cover for the screws i would put thos back on but sadly threw them away long ago.hofuldig

Goes to show that Sony knows how to make 'em. That's why when the time comes for me to get a new-gen system, I'll most likely go with the PS3, instead of the RROD machine.

I don't get why so many people are telling you to get a new one. If it does what it's supposed to do, plays video games, who gives a crap what it looks like? I'd hang on to that for as long as you can, just out of principal because of what it's been through.
