Hi all, I've got an old PS2 I'd love to play again, but I don't have a television, only a PC monitor. Does anyone know a way to use this as a screen for it, ideally that's cheap and looks good? Thanks in advance!

What you're looking for is a VGA cable. Unfortunately the only one Sony ever made for PS2 was for this Linux kit and would only work while running the system in Linux. There was this 3rd party one, thought I forgot what it was called (Blaze? Idk) but that was EXTREMELY buggy and only ran a few games with very fuzzy graphics. But I never really kept track, maybe there's another one out there...

You can use the official component cables for PS3 on a PS2. I'm using these currently on my PS2, the quality is really solid and the cables look sexy as well! ;)I reckon you can get these from a fair amount of retailers, got mine at best buy.

Your purchasing route entirely depends on how many PS2 games you play that support a 480p resolution. Alot of the top-tier PS2 games support 480p including Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 4, God of War, etc. Here is a comprehensive list of them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_games_with_HD_support If it turns out that you play alot of those 480p games, then I'd suggest the Vdigi VD-Z3 transcoder, which accepts a minimum signal of 480p. I've had great success using this with both a ps2 and xbox on a pc monitor. http://www.vdigi.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=17&category_id=9&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53 If you play the majority of standard PS2 games, you're going to want something that can upscale the image. I've had pretty good success with this device. http://www.hdboxpro.com/eng/shop.htm It's a good upscaler for the price. One odd thing is that bright flashes in a game disrupt the image for a second. I'ts quirky, but kind of minor for the games I play. Also, you may need to adjust settings a bit to get a good image quality.

Check your local craigslist and news paper listings for a decently priced CRT TV. I got a 32 inch for free in the paper, mint condition besides the cable input not working. Something I never would have needed in the first place. Its better than paying out the ass for cables.
