Who says you can't have an action-horror game?

Ohaidere
Me, for one. Walking around with an M-16 takes a hell of a lot of the suspense out of a game. Sure, some things might pop out and startle you, but that is not the same thing as the persistent sense of dread you experience from being vulnerable and stalked by someone or something.

I've cited multiple times- Deadspace is a scarier game than RE 1 was, and it is an action-horror game.

Ohaidere
That does not necessarily mean that being armed makes a game scarier, only that Dead Space overall was scarier than a game designed well over a decade before it. A better comparison might be Dead Space versus Amnesia, which are both more recent.

I said it makes it *less* suspenseful.

Current controls + ability to move and shoot + an actual survival horror setting. Pretty please.

Alter_Echo

What I find laughable is that move and shoot was available in the RE: Outbreak off-shoot titles, but not in the main series. Just another WTF worthy moment from Capcom.

Dead Space was what RE5 was suppose to be. Who knew moving AND shooting would be be important... Everyone who'd ever played a shooter, but not Capcom. Jun Takeuchi takes these games in horrible directions, but it sells. He's the Puff Daddy of gaming. Horror?.. Shooter?.. Neither?.. Yeah, its neither. Capcom continually makes weird (stupid) design decisions. Lost Planet 2 was a cluster **** of bad ideas.

I liked RE 4 and 5, though it was too much of an action game, lacking in horror theme. I would love for the next one to bring back the horror aspect of the series.

If it brings back the horror aspect, limited ammo, the need to search for weapons rather then buy them when you've ended a chapter, much more puzles, the slow moving zombies and B.O.W.'s then I'm all for it.

I'm not even sure how you could make a RE game like that today. The entire scope of the series has changed. It isn't possible to bring those gameplay elements back. RE of the 90s is over and it isn't coming back.

the old Resident Evil's camera angles SUCKED. I don't want to have to rely on a crappy camera in order for a game to be scary. Dead Space did it right

So does that make him the Paul W.S Anderson of Games?

If you're talking about going back to zombies after the Ganados have emerged as an easy to control army then the answer is simple. You have to reboot the series, which according to the rumor mill is Capcoms plan for the next installment of Resident Evil. The demand for a true Resident Evil horror game is to high for Capcom to ignore now. Maybe they'll close out the current RE Universe with another CGI movie.

I don't understand why people even want them to go back to the old style of Resident Evil. This New Style is Better and I want Capcom to Keep it that way.

Maybe they can just focus more on the horror and keep the current gameplay. That would be the Best solution in my mind.

That is the point. People don't want them to return to bad graphics, poor camera angles, and horrid controls. They just want Resident Evil to be a horror game again instead of a second-rate Gears of War/Halo clone.
