Same here. If those top 3 pics were from some other game that was nowhere near as fun as Fallout 3 then I wouldn't care at all. Fallout 3 is not one of the best games of this generation because of its graphics.GodModeEnabled
I didn't say as much.  But it is a much more enjoyable game with those graphics instead of the originals.  Great graphics can't save a crappy game no matter how pretty, but they can make an awesome game a lot better in terms of immersion and atmosphere, which is where a lot of Fallout 3's enjoyment came from

I played Fallout 3 on the PS3, its worst version. One of my favorite games of all time. I dont care what it looked like, the game got the point of cross. Yes it can enhance an experience but its now where close to being the most important thing.

I'm just arguing against the sentiment that graphics don't make a game.  I don't think they simply enhance the experience, they are integral to it.   And while gameplay ultimately takes precedence over everything else, graphics and sound are not far behind.

Edit: if you are as big a fan of Fallout 3 as you claim to be, you owe it to yourself to play it on the PC and mod the hell out of it.  With mods such as FWE, MMM, ENB, and various other tweaks to UI and pretty much any part of the game you can imagine, it's a Fallout 3 fan's dream.  It's a quite a different experience than on the consoles.  I don't know if you're a PC gamer or not, I don't suspect you are, but if you ever get a capable rig able to run it with resource intensive mods such as ENB, you should definitely check it out.

Graphics are important, really important. However so is everything else which is why Crysis is pretty yet kiinda dull and Dark Souls is awesome to me.

although 60% might be a bit high, i do agree that graphics are a HUGE part of gaming, especially nowadays. if you look at each gen, the most noticeable improvement from them are the graphics, and today it is more important than ever.

It is 100% of a game to my friends. All they care about are the aesthetics in a game. Every time I play an old game or a new game in which I toned down graphics for performance, they keep whining. And they buy every single COD game they see just cause it's beautiful to them.

Arguing graphics are the majority aspect of a game is interesting because the CEO might be right in many cases. Eyesight is the most valuable sense to a human being because the most imformation can be processed from t eyesight in comparison our other senses, yet graphics are not the most important part of a game with a focus on music like Rez.

Even though it's just an arbitrary percentage, it's a bad one. :P Where does sound fit into the equation?KHAndAnime

Yeah, no kidding. Sound is just as important to building atmosphere as visuals. Even more so in quite a few games (the horror genre comes readily to mind).

Graphics are 10%(if that much) of the game to me. As long as everything is clearly identifiable the graphics are more than good enough for me. I play games for gameplay and story/characters. If I wanted to watch a photo-realistic movie I'd watch an actual movie or go outside.Moriarity_

This is pretty much how I feel.  Take Xenoblade.  The graphics are kind bad technically speaking, but that doesn't stop it from being the rgeatest console game of the generation.  The gameplay is amazingly fun and the story is truly something special... Destined to go down as one of the rgeatest JRPGs ever.

Good graphic is part of the $60 sells price.

Remember that graphics is not just the details the screen shows. It also how easy the font can be read. How clear important objects are. In othere worlds it affects the game play.

In this generation of gaming, graphics are definitely important but it shouldn't be 60% of a game

One day I will and the Bethesda games are going to be ones I play again with the mods. The stuff people do with them are incredible.dvader654

Hell yea they are.  F3 is such a different game, here's a shot I took off of the bridge to Rivet City during sunset:

I'm using the DarnUI mod which revamps the UI to fit the PC interface, and puts extra HUD elements on screen for convenience (upper right).  I'm also running Project Reality which dynamically changes the weather among other things, the lack of which really grinded my gears in the vanilla version.

Here's what the FWE and MMM mods allow:

You can get a decent gaming PC for a bit under a grand.  Better looking games, highly customizable, with barely any load times.  The only problem is playing with mods is very glitchy and you have to be somewhat technologically proficient, and the game is prone to crash a lot.  Like once every hour, at least for me but I'm new at it.

Anyway.  you should check it out man.  I'm assuming you don't PC game as you would've already done all this if you do, but I just thought I'd show you what modding can give.  It's my first time actually, and I'm blown away.
