Anyone else have a thing against cutscenes every 2 minutes? (not mentioning any games!)

After playing games like Mass Effect 2 or Heavy Rain, it's becoming increasingly annoying to have to watch cutscenes where I do nothing but watch.
my favorite part of games are the cutscenes. i dont even like in game cut scenes...i like real fmv type cut scenes.
It depends on how often and how long they are. I don't mind the MGS type long cutscenes so long as they're spaced out. If I'm playing a game and I get a 5 minute cutscene every two minutes then I'm going to get annoyed.
ummm untrue, you are mostly interacting in the cutscenes. I can't remember a cutscene in ME2 that lasted for very long anyway. After playing games like Mass Effect 2 or Heavy Rain, it's becoming increasingly annoying to have to watch cutscenes where I do nothing but watch.

I hate unskippable cutscenes in any game. I don't mind spending as much time as I need to sit through any cut scene on my first playthrough of a game, but if I can't skip them in later playthroughs, it just gets annoying. I hate when they go on for a long time, but if I only have to watch it once, I don't mind it as much since I can just remember what happened and never have to watch it again if I don't want to.
I don't mind them at all, the only instance that i dislike them would be if you are forced to re-watch them if you died in a level. As long as they are skip-able the second time around i got no problem with them and i enjoy them quite a bit.
Cutscenes are the only way to convey the story effectively and since I put stories high in my list of priorities for games I love cutscenes.
I enjoy the cutscenes in any game with a decent story on my first playthrough, having too many doesn't upset me. However if I plan to replay the game several times and find that the cutscenes are unskippable, then they tend to be annoying regardless of the length or frequency.
Really depends on the game and how well they are done. I prefer games which tell the story through the environment and gameplay, but cutscenes are cool and can be very impressive. Some need it more than others for story telling.
I much prefer cutscenes when they are real time, no pre-render, no movie files. Capcom is one of the best when it comes to in-engine, in-real time cutscenes, yet so many other devs don't they just "cheat". I hate watching a cutscene that looks worse than the game because its its low res, compressed movie file.
Real time cutscenes or don't bother.

Years ago this was true but more and more games are showing us that there are ways to tell the story quite effectively without taking the player out of the gameplay. It's especially annoying in first person shooters when the game suddenly and jarringly becomes third person just to show a cutscene especially when games like Half Life and Bioshock have shown a simple alternative: have all dialogue and story events happen in-gameCutscenes are the only way to convey the story effectively and since I put stories high in my list of priorities for games I love cutscenes.

I think devs need to make them skippable. Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite platformers but the cutscenes are so dumb. I hate MGS2, though I beat it twice. Let me explain though. The first time I dealt with all the cutscenes and everything and it took me over 20 hours to beat the game. The second time I skipped every cutscene and it took me less than four hours to beat the game. I'm not paying $60 to watch a half-baked film, I want to play a damn game. Since then I've avoided every MGS game. That's only one example, but a major one. Cutscenes are fine, just don't overdue the damn things after every little thing I do. Let me play.

I really don't mind. But if the story or character(s) sucks, then I'd be really pissed.
Like others, if you have the option to skip them then fine. I'll throw another factor in there, if you can pause the cutscene it would be awesome also. I hate getting to a cutscene when I'm playing a game for the first time through and do not have the option to pause it since I tend to get interrupted at times when I play games.
I get sooooooo mad when that happens :p.Like others, if you have the option to skip them then fine. I'll throw another factor in there, if you can pause the cutscene it would be awesome also. It depends on the game really but I don't think a game should ever have non-skippable cutscenes. The Getaway wrecked my head with it's cutscenes.
if you hate cutscenes then you guys would love metal gear solid 2 sol and the xenosaga episode 1,2 and 3 (of course im being sarcastic)
The cutscenes on Sonic games are not all that interesting. I guess since I'm an old-school fan and played more of the old ones instead of the new ones, the storylines are not quite of an eye-opener. The voice actings don't bother me. It's the story itself that isn't entertaining.

That's what I was going to say. All games should should when pressing the start button, and then give you the option to rewind, fast forward, or skip on a menu. That way you can pause and rewind a bit if your interupted, you can skip it if you like, and you don't accidentally skip it if your trying to find out if you can pause it.
Anyway, cut scenes don't bother me. Like others have said, I don't like rewatching them over and over if I'm dieing on a boss or something. But I'd choose the option to pause over skip if I had the choice. I've replayed large sections of gameplay after being interuped during a cut scene before because I just had to know what happened.
I think if you watched them once you could skip them by pressing R3...Only if they are unskippable. The Getaway was HELL when it comes to cutscenes, you had to watch literally a 10 minute cutscene every time you died or ran out of time on a mission and had to retry.
