Been having loads of fun in this game, i have to agree. It looks to be more of an mmo compared to other shooters.

Too bad it doesn't start at level 1.
Well he really means the game takes off after level 20. That's where the real game begins
I may be completely out of my mind here but a tutorial that lasts 20 levels before it lets you get immersed in a game sounds like a drag.
That' every mmo ever
I can certainly see his point. I'm currently level 24 and having a great time playing this excellent game.

i'm 21, and i am having a blast aswell
From 20 onward, you will be improving upon your character so that you will be able to participate in the high level content, which, judging by the Raid footage, will offer more epic experiences. People who have not problem with the game right now are just enjoying the loot and mechanics, and that is cool, but I can still see the how the mission structure that the game has so far, would suggest to a lot of people that the missions would be boring. But, patience is a virtue I guess.

People just don't know how to play games that require a little effort...

But why?
Surely one can shorten it down to the first five levels on how to play the game and then have the game go " This is a place you could go, Have fun" and let you discover for yourself.

You know, you can do that, you can play pvp after the first mission. You can on and try patrols aswell. You need to go higher to try strikes though
@The_Last_Ride: I wish I had my Ps4 already, so I can try it. I don't know if its worth it on the Ps3, or 360.
it's a good game if you like shooters

Yeah. I will admit that ,after playing the beta and seeing how reviews suggested that the mission were structured the same, I thought that people had a right to be kind of mad. But the Raid footage restored my faith in the game. Honestly, if my internet did not suck ass, I would probably be enjoying the game with people right now, but someone like me is forced to only watch other people enjoy the game until I improve my situation in some way.

That is certainly not true.
Thats a long tutorial time. Man games are being more and more targeted at casual mainstream audiences.

Why doesn't it begin at level 1.
Because the first level is the tutorial
Well, for most MMO's, yes, the PvP and unlocking of the more interesting game mechanics actually really only starts at levels 25 and above (usually at 25, 30, and 35, depending on the game).
Games should be fun from the very beginning. There is no way in hell that I'm going to waste my time playing a game that feels like a chore to play through for 20 hours before it supposedly gets good.

It's not true, anyway. Not counting the raid, level 20 just means doing everything you've already done over and over again on a different difficulty setting until the RNG grants you equipment solid enough to jump to the next difficulty setting or you manage to accrue enough rep to just buy what you need from one of the vendors. But there is literally nothing new about level 20 beyond the raid...no new areas, no "max level" zones like you'd expect to find in this type of game.
I wouldn't mind doing stuff over so much, personally, but there is surprisingly little unique content for a game of this type in the first place. Worlds are really not that big and there's a lot of overlap in the areas used for story missions and strikes.
Because the first level is the tutorial
So the game is designed to not be fun when it starts.
Have you actually played it?
@Pffrbt: The game feels a lot different from Borderlands, in that it's actually much more fun to kill and grind for things in Destiny than in Borderlands. Destiny doesn't just hand you loot like it's candy, you actually have to work for it, which I like.
Have you actually played it?
Yes, when it was called Borderlands.
yeah, so that means no... So basicly you're just bashing it without any playtime. Nice...

The producer of the game is the one that said the game is designed to be boring.
No, if you have played any mmo, you know that's how they are played
Meh. Just because the game opens up at level 20 doesn't mean that that's only when the fun starts. I've been enjoying this game right from the get-go. Having things open up more at level 20 just means that I'll keep enjoying it for much longer.
@The_Last_Ride
For People with Too Much time on their hands ?
Although to be fair I spent the last 3 months gaining 190 Levels in Dark Arisen.... Only ten more Levels to go.... Then I can go kill the Reaper.
uhm no, it just requires dedication and patience combined with skill
@Lulu_Lulu: You get new abilities as you level up, which are independent from your actual level. Your base level is a means to obtain better equipment, and your abilities level the more you use them. You can also get different effects on abilities, such as different grenade types, different buffs for your super ability, and more maneuvering, all of which are interchangeable as soon as you obtain them. The stats in the game are 3: intelligence, discipline, and strength. The only thing these stats do is decrease the cooldown timer of your different abilities, such as your powered melee, grenade, and super attack. All of this comes from the armor you equip and upgrade with items you find throughout the game. Stats are merely there to reduce time limits. The rest of the game is all centered around your skill as an FPS player.
What I'm interested in is: does it have anything to do with Marathon Infinity at all, especially that game's ending?
Or did they just call it Destiny because reasons
@The_Last_Ride
Is this real skill or just another stat in the game called "Skill" ?
What exactly happens as you level up ? Do you get new Mechanics to toy with like Bioshock or is Stat Bonuses for pre-existing Mechanics ?
No, actual skill.
You get stats on gear that you earn, the better gear the more "Light". You need skill getting those if you want the pvp gear or the strike gear.
@Lulu_Lulu: It will, it's how all mmo's work. They will add an expansion and also add more free content to keep players there
