People are going on and on about the best game of 2007 but at the same time, forgetting about the developers behind those games.

My vote goes to Irrational/2K Boston for BioShock (with Nintendo EAD Tokyo for Super Mario Galaxy a close second). Besides the general programming and gameplay development, all the art assets that went into Rapture is staggering. Each wall decoration and music piece fits the location and time period perfectly. Also, no two areas in Rapture are alike and it must have taken tremendous time and effort to give each space its own identity.

So hats off to Ken Levine and company, to me, you are the Developer of the Year for 2007.

2k Boston (Irrational) definantly deserves it this year. As for Indie Developer of the year, definently Realtime Worlds for Crackdown.

IDK much about developing games but the Orange Box with five awesome games and all looks almost too good to be true.

Sorry guys, maybe I didn't make myself clear. I'm not asking who is publisher of the year, I'm asking who is developer of the year. For instance, if you liked Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3, instead of Nintendo, you'd nominate Nintendo EAD Tokyo or Retro Studios respectively; if you liked Ratchet and Clank or Virtua Fighter 5, instead of Sony or Sega, you'd nominate Insomniac Games or Sega AM2 respectively, and so on and so forth.

I've gotta hand it to Sega AM2 for coming through with what may be the new greatest game of all time in Virtua Fighter 5. I can't say there aren't things I would've done differently, but the fact is, it's gotten me to pass on things like The Orange Box, Rock Band/Guitar Hero III, Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, and Project Gotham Racing 4.

Honestly, I might be done for the year now that I have this.

Well, technically development houses such as Retro, Intelligent Systems and EAD are all development houses that make up Nintendo's development team.. meaning all the games they make can collectively be considered both published and developed by Nintendo.

But if you want an actual individual team, I'd nominate Nintendo EAD, for both Mario Galaxy and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass; although technically they were covered by different teams within EAD.

With Fantasy War, quite the surprise for this year from my perspective. I never saw this game coming, saw it in store...try it...love it.

Definitely Valve. Not only did they provide the best gaming package of the year with three new absolutely fantastic games, but also intergrated the Community aspect into Steam enabling friend lists, achievements, etc.

^Great minds think alike Flames. Definetly Valve for me too, not only is The Orange Box an amazing value with 5 great games it has my GOTY on it--- Portal. It has been a while since I played a game I love this much, it is the pinnacle of greatness as far as im concerned. With all the achievements and team fortress for online play TOB is going to be sucking up a lot of my gaming time.

I would say Valve, but they've always been consistently awesome, so I'm going to say that CDProjekt Red are the Developer of the Year - for them to make such a brilliant RPG (The Witcher) and for it to be relatively bug-free and since it's their first game...well, that's just surprisingly awesome.

Ok, so you want individual dev teams. Even though the teams have different names those are all still dev houses of Nintendo, Nintendo as a whole is one giant developer and publisher as well.

Sorry, but I gotta disagree on Valve. Sure, Portal, TF2, and Episode 2 are new but the Orange Box overall is a port, IMO, a great bargain but still a port nonetheless.

I'm going to go with Insomniac.  In less than a year they released 2 great games on a system that is notoriously hard to program for, as well as continuing to support Resistance with new features, patches and levels.  Ratchet is such a highly polished fun game.  They really go the extra mile in my opinion.

Crytek for creating the best game this year.
