So far DMC4 looks really great I tired it on the 360 the graphics looks really great. Really can't wait for the full version of the game to come out. Its feels the same as the first DMC game, now you can able too have an demon arm now which is something too the game.

I thought the demo was pretty boring overall. Mostly because the battles were too easy and too few. However, I'm confident the end product will be amazing. It feels like DMC3 and thats a good thing as far as I'm concerned, I wasn't looking for (nor did I want) dramatic changes in the way the game plays.

I'm really impressed. Keep in mind I'm seeing this with completely fresh eyes though. I've never played a DMC game, and I'm blown away by it. This is kinda like how it was with Ratchet and Clank Future, where it was completely new for me and absolutely incredible, and maybe somewhat stale for everyone else who has kept up with the series.

60FPS, I love you so much. :D

Be warned: the last time I admitted to playing a game on normal, Dvader made fun of me. ;)

I don't think there will be an option for a hard difficulty. I don't recall the previous games giving you that option either, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm so hooked on this demo right now. I still can't beat extermination mode under 10 minutes, but I'm getting close. That Instant Exceed thing is really cool, but I really can't get the timing down. The best I can do is a three hit combo, but nothing more. I expect to see youtube videos pro players using IE for nearly all their attacks.

lol. Well personally I usually start off all my games on normal the first time around, to learn the controls, level layouts, generally how to play and how to play well. Jumping into DMC4 on Dante Must Die mode without having played a DMC game before = suicide. Even a series vet like me would be far better off starting on normal and working their way up. Different strokes and all that I guess. And the next time vader makes fun of you just say "lol phantom hourglass lol" he hates that :D

I didn't get the 'wow' moment I was hoping to while playing, but DMC4 seems like its a faithful if unambitious sequel, and I love DMC3. Also, I don't like Nero as much as Dante. Two pistols are better than one oversized gun, and the grabbing system, neither as a system of movement (go to this circle and grab this object, than proceed to the next circle) or a factor in combos really impressed me. However if the final version of DMC4 has the high difficulty of its predecessors I can look past Nero and love the game anyway.

If they come up with a new character in DMC5, they should try to create one who feels less like Dante.

I didn't even realize it until now, but after each attack that Nero does, you can tap the LT/L2 button. If timed right, you can instantly rev up the sword for faster attacks. The attacks are much faster, though they don't seem that much stronger, but that's another layer to add to the depth that this game has.

I found this bit of information on the DMC4 boards, courtesy of Ninja99.

Give it a try if you can.

_Dez_
Thanks for the tip! I knew there were other ways to rev up the sword.

Judging by the other write-ups I've read the demo has a ton of depth I missed, but I just hate the feeling of playing without opposition. Its like shooting hoops by yourself as opposed to playing against someone else. I'm sure the final game will offer opposition worthy of the name, so I'll master the complexities of the combat system then.

Well I said I wasn't going to play the demo, but I did.

Its good but I wasn't blown away by it. It is definitely a take-no-chances sequel, for better or worse. I still can't wait to check it out though, I was just hoping for a bit of a surprise from the first Next-Gen DMC.

I don't know why, but to me the controls felt slightly looser than DMC3, as far as movement goes, jumping around, etc. Graphically, it looks really nice but again, didn't blow me away. And I definitely don't like the new guy as much as Dante...he seems like Dante's sissy cousin, I'd rather play as the real thing or come up with someone completely different.

Seems like a very solid sequel as long as you don't expect a revolutionary experience, similar to Ratchet PS3.

I loved the demo to death. I'm happy that Capcom decided to make it closer to the first game instead of making it harder like the third game. The controls were nice and feel great on the 360 controller. And the graphics were great as well. I'm really looking forward to February.

I absolutely loved the demo. The more you play it, the more things you discover you can do. Since this was the first time I played a DMC game (never owned a PS2,) I was pleasantly surprised by it. This is definitely a buy game for me :)

The final version is easy too?!

The initial difficulty probably.

I don't have any problem with it being easier than DMC3, because that was borderline insane. The original DMC was not like that. I don't want it too easy, but not too hard either.

Somebody from Gamefaqs has already put up a combo video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a35RZZSPrk

Even with Nero's limited moves, you can do quite a few neat combos with it. Oh, and here are all of Nero's taunts in the game, in case anybody is curious. I really like the sword revving one.

I'd prefer the default difficulty of DMC1, rather than DMC3, which is about what this games seems like to me.

If thats the case, I really hope you can crank it up to hard on the first play through. I know I'm not going to enjoy this nearly as much as I'd like to if I'm forced to play through on normal.

I didn't mind DMC3's difficulty, it was the checkpoint system that irritated me. I'm going to wait and see if more than one difficulty is selectable out of the gate before I pick up DMC4.

I managed to download the demo yesterday and I tried it out, and all I have to say that the game was pretty badass. Of course, this was the first time I have ever played a DMC game, which goes to show me what I have been missing out on. I am now thinking of getting the previous DMC games. I heard that the third one was too difficult, and that concerns me up to a point wether I really want to get it or not.

Alright, My impressions so far

Difficultiy wise...Didn't even take a hit on me till the Flame puppy's drop the fire and it shoots up from the ground lol. Dissapointing but I know its not like this in the retail which pleases me

Gameplay...I love it, I have no clue about revs or anything like that. I've gotten a few S combos so far, I can pretty much get A all the time. So I can't say Im doing too bad. What I want is dante back

DMC is not a button masher, its the opposite of a button masher. This demo is very easy so you kind of get away with it, but the full game will not be, you will get destoryed if you do not play smart.

Here is nice explination of the fighting system you get to play in the demo, http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9457484&postcount=809. Remember thats the easy character with only his initial moves, later on you will have many more weapons and moves to learn. Plus Dante is way deeper than that, his character has all the multiple stylles of play you can try out, now on the fly.

DMC is about the deepest action game out there.

Well, OK then. I'll take another look at it (if the reviews don't turn out too bad)

WOW!!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=zTXDGLQmav0

That is insane, he reved the entire level.

dvader654

That's got to be a machine playing because that was pretty damn amazing. I can't IR very well at all. Best I can do is two or three times out of Nero's four-hit combo.

I managed to download the demo yesterday and I tried it out, and all I have to say that the game was pretty badass. Of course, this was the first time I have ever played a DMC game, which goes to show me what I have been missing out on. I am now thinking of getting the previous DMC games. Definitely get the Special Edition if you can. It shouldn't be too hard to find. I usually see them at plenty of stores that I visit, and it's $20. The game is still challenging, but it starts you off at the Normal difficulty (not Hard, like the original DMC3).

Not only that, the gold continue system offers a checkpoint system, so you don't start at the beginning of mission if you die. It definitely reduces the frustration. It doesn't make the game easy by any means, but it certainly reduces the frustration that you could get from playing it. If you enjoyed the demo, you should definitely pick up Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition.

I'll try out the advices you gave me, Dvader, when I go attempt to beat the boss later on. I'll also see if I can find the Special Edition of DMC3 as well. I could've sworn that my local Wal-Mart sold the game, but I can't find it anywhere. Time for an alternate solution: Online Shopping!

I still haven't got a HDD to download this lol :? I will get it soon but the game will be out before then no doubt hehe. Nice to read everybody elses feedbacks though and I don't need a demo to know I want this game, I absolutly loved the first and third game (Capcom seem to have a way of making the most capable gamer of feeling like a pad mashing noob lol).

I don't know I tried to employ all of the techniques that I learned from this thread, and really I just felt like I couldn't possibly play DMC the way it was meant to be played...I think the incentive to learn all of Dante's moves and techniques was much higher for me, because I simply liked his moves a lot better...Especially the trickster style, anyway I'm still undecided on whether I'll be renting this game or buying it...The techniques are much more complex than say NG which is really just about dodging and counterattacking, not so much comboing.

I can get through the level extremely easy as I did button-mashing on my first playthrough, however, I am aware of how much harder the final game will be probably be.

The demo is easy, the boss would be a little challenging. Anyways I started to practice combos with Exceed and its hardcore stuff, need to practice some more later on.
