Diddy kong racing VERY UNDERATED

honestly this was one of the best games for N64 good multiplayer and single player but for some reason mario kart got more attention when this was overall a better game in graphics,story and gameplay come on u got to use planes,hovercrafts and cars which included boss battles.

Even gs gave it a 6.6

It held a pretty fond place in my childhood. I liked the fact that it had an original concept. It had new characters, multiple vehicles and kick ass multi player. I recently gave my cousin my copy of the game and he loves it.

my copy is lost but I spend alot of hours with this game I hated mario kart 64

Yeah the game was amazing. I loved the challenge of the boss and silver coin races. The level design was really nice, especially the space levels.

My Dad and I played in Icicle Pryamid for hours with the map off. Over and over again. Me as Bumper and him as Tip Top. That game was the bomb except T.T. that giant clock annoyed me.

I just dotn understand why mario kart is considered better when its plain and boring after 10mins

who says its underated ? ive never heard anyone say a bad thing about it. its a fun game, definitely better then mario kart 64 which imo is atrocious.

The reason why it is underrated is because even though people know its a good game, it is not as popular as mario kart 64, diddy kong is like three times better. I remember playing the multiplayer with my friend. but, now I am stuck on the first level... Summer is coming, maybe I can put some time into it.

I agree. It doesn't have the same nostalgic feel to it.

That game was so much fun. I loved how you could drive around the little island place to get to the different levels, and how you had to do different challenges like getting all the coins and still winning, or that game where you have to grab all the eggs, or the boss races.

edit: oh yes the genie, the song that played when you drove around the island (laaa laaa laaa laa laa laa lalala) and when you turn on the game and it says DIDDYYY KOOOOOOOOOOONG RAAAAAACING were all pretty awesome

Yeah, I remember that game. Was actually pretty solid, I could almost compare it to Mario Kart 64. I liked how I it had cars, boats, and planes to race in.

I thought:

DKR: 9.6

MK 64: 9.5

Diddy Kong was a great game. I had both Diddy Kong and Mario Kart and spent many hours on both. To me its almost a toss up between which one is better.

Yeah Diddy Kong Racing is an awesome game. I beat the game years ago when I was younger. Now I find it harder to beat, but it's still fun.

The multi-player on Mario Kart 64 completely buries Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart 64 has much more interesting weapons and more importantly loads of handicapping which keeps all the players close to each other, this coupled with the randomness of the weapons power-ups makes Mario Kart more tense as it's usually a close race, in Diddy everything is always in the same place so whoever's played the levels most will always win.Domino_slayer

I must disagree, I normally found the racing in Diddy Kong to be very unpredictable playing with friends and the feature of different characters with different strengths and weaknesses, different vehicles that could be used on the same circuit and power-ups that weren't simply random made the gameplay far more more interesting and tactical.

Mario Kart came out first and DKR basically stole a lot of the same elements from that game. This led a lot of reviewers to see it as derivative. Also, some of the elements were somewhat odd and didn't seem to fit very well.

One of my all times greats is Diddy Kong Racing remember getting it with my N64 christmas 97'. . . everything from the graphics, music and gameplay was perfect. Also because i got it at christmas the snow covered world with its christmas theme was just the best feeling while playing :)Timbury

That game was really fun, it was pretty hard to beat Wizpig the final guy.. But it was a great experience. I also liked the snow level on Christmas playing the game, talk about nostalgia. :D
