I usually do. I find when I wait too long I find it harder to find some games (ie Crimson Gem Saga for PSP)

When do you buy games? Does online multiplayer have any influence on when you purchese the game?

I try to get personally-hyped games as early as possible, but I usually order stuff online, so I usually get it within a few days of release.

Depends entirely on the game and whether or not I have the cash, usually if it is a game I've been wanting for a long time I'll get it day 1 even if I have to sell my body to get it (Not really) but most games I buy in due time or wait for price drops.

If it's made by Atlus or NIS, yes. Everything else? I typically wait.

It depends on how much I want them, what else is coming out near the same time, if there are extras or special editions, and if the game will likely become hard to find.

It depends on the exact price and how much I've been wanting it. Other wise I usually wait until the price drops.

Heck, I don't usually buy them within the first year. And that was even when I was in the current-gen. Now I'm completely last-gen...

Yes, actually. Most of the games I buy are on day one of release now. This is simply because I rent a lot of games that I am semi-interested in, and only buy games that I really want, and because I really want them, it's release day buys. Sometimes I see a good offer for a game I haven't picked up yet, but that's really about it.

If I am able to, yes. Sometimes I can't, though, because sometimes I'm low on the cash, and also I don't have my own car, so getting to a game store can be a problem at times...

It depends on few factors.

Most important factor is how much I want the game.

2nd important factor is how important is it to get the game early (online multi-player reasons)

3rd factor is how many of copies are being printed (no point of buying a game that price will drop soon, i.e Mirror's Edge.)

If I REALLY want the game, then yes. But for the VAST majority of the game I get, I usually wait at least three months before I pick up a game.

usually buy games I want really bad day 1.

I preordered my import with demon's souls a month before it came out

picked up re5 day one, prince of persia day one, dead space day one

and I plan on getting uncharted 2, the last guardian, darksiders, bayonetta, castlevania: lords of shadow, dante's inferno, heavy rain, and ff13 all day one.

You should be careful with that, because lately retailers are holding limited copies of a game that gets printed limited number.

By the time you look for a game, you might not find it.

There are a few i just geel like I have to have on day 1. So those get proordered. Other, I usually wait a while and pick them up used.

Of course, if it's a sports game, ou need to get it fairly quickly, or you may as well wait and buy next year's version

If it is a sequel or expansion of my favorite games I am likely to pre-order or grab it the day it is released on store shelves. These days I mainly wait for word of mouth referrals. After friend recommendations and researching the game screenshots and videos online I'll rent it or play the demo before considering purchasing it. I am a very finicky gamer so if the game doesn't give me any fireworks within the first 15 minutes I have a habit of returning the rental game without another thought. Same goes for demos (delete!) That's probably the reason why I don't review games for my personal profile or rate the bad ones. I cannot give a fair rating without playing majority of the game.

If it's a game I want to play badly and/or a game that I know is going to be rare soon, or if it's a game that I know the price isn't going to drop for a long time, I'll buy it right away. If it's a game that will soon see a price drop, I often won't buy it.

Online multiplayer has only had a little influence; I wouldn't say it was the main factor or even a big factor but yeah it has crossed my mind that if I don't get the game early, I probably won't be good enough later to have a chance to compete online.

Only times I'll buy at full price if it's a game I want right away, and I know I will invest a lot of time into or I know it's a game I'm going to have a tough time finding after it's been released for a while.

a lot of the games that i might have bought on day one often get bunched together (like around the holiday season). i wouldnt have the chance to take my time and fully enjoy them if i bought every game i wanted close to its release. its not really a bad thing at all since i end up saving money in many instances.

If I'm really excited about the game (and have enough money), I will, but other than that, I may wait for a price drop, or until I have enough money.

It depends on my income at the time. I've gone as far as purchasing a game week 1 and not playing it for months. Now that my hours have been cut in half and the money isn't as free flowing as it once was, I doubt I'd do anything as stupid as that ever again.

There are some games that I really want to own day one but I won't be able to do that unless another job comes through. Luckilly I still have a backlog of games that will ideally last me until those new titles start getting discounts.

Not very often. If it's a game I really want I usually end up picking it up a week to a month after release. Otherwise I wait for the price to drop. I'm in no real hurry to buy my games. If I'm ordering online from Amazon though (which I have done on several occasions), I make sure to pre-order nice and early. If they drop the price at any point between my pre-order and the shipping date, I get the lowest price offered. And it does happen most of the time, so there's no need to wait until after release for the price to go down.

I look at metacritic to see game ratings, even if a game isn't out (since there are always early reviews) but even then if the game is almost proven to be fun and my kind of game, then its a first day purchase (Like GTA IV, MW2, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 etc.).

I do usually get my games the first week unless its a present, but if its still unproven or I don't want it THAT much, then I look at reviews once its released and pick it up as soon as I can.

Only if it's a game I know is worth my 60 bucks. In this case, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Gran Turismo will be day one purchases.

Not really

I can only think of three games where I've done that: Half-Life 2, Braid, and Street Fighter IV.

FF10-2 - same as above (I thought it would be good after FF10........ I was wrong.....very wrong)

FF12- same as above (another dissapointment)
