I was wondering how many people even read manuals before playing a game?
Because i am the only one i know that reads them... At least some parts of it!

I usually to to get a better understanding of the story going in.
I like reading the manuals, sometimes it gives you important plot elements that aren't talked about in the game. I feel that making manuals is becoming a lost art. Why don't they make involved ones anymore, like with Wario Land 4? It's a shame.

I totaly agree! Manuals is important, some game producents don´t make them that good, but they should put more effort into making them. I wish that they would put artwork or something like that, i know that it´d propably cost more to make them but i´d enjoy spending that little extra price if they made that ;D
[QUOTE="RK-Mara"]I used to read manuals when they were actually worth something.Flame_Blade88This. Most of the time they're just 12 pages now, with 4 of them just being credits.
I concur.
Remember the good 'oll times of Baldur's Gate? 140 pages describing spells, skills and atributes. Or 688 Hunter Killer - 300 pages of several different courses: learning morse code, basics of trygonometry, echolocation, basics of hydrophysics and sea navigation.
Those were the times
Now days they are like this
#GAME NAME#
To walk forward press "W"
9 pages later with controll explenations...
Thats all thanks for buying the game!
If it look like it will have something important / lore / art and so on i will read and look at it (skiping the controll section).
I don't make a deal of reading it but usually I end up reading it at some point. Especially for RPG'S eg. Final fantasy, Oblivion, Fallout
Usually end up using them as reading material when im on the toilet.
Never. Not since the PS/N64 days. Even back then, I rarely look into them. Only in the SNES/Genesis era I took instruction manuals seriously.
All Control manuals are in the OPTIONS in every game, today.
When I do read the Manuals, it's only for back stories and plots, the types of weapons, etc that are in the game.
I only read manauls when there is an action in the game that I can't figure out how to do. But even then I can usually just pause the game and look at the controls.
I don't feel there's a need to. Most games of today dedicate the intro/first act/whatever you want to call it, to explaining the controls. I'm not really a big fan of that. Also, manuals are pretty boring these days. I like when there are useful things, like pretty pictures and maps. A Link to the Past came with a sweet map...I'm not a fan of GTA 4, but the map it came with was pretty cool.
