I'm absolutely terrible about that. The worst part is that even if I'm really looking forward to a game when I buy it, after it sits on my shelf for months I lose interest.Â
Next gen I swear I'm just buying one game, finishing it (or deciding I don't like it and I'm quitting) and then buying one new game. That way the excitement of getting a new game will still be there.
Yes, i do finish my backlog actually.
The reason for that is money allocation. Why pay full price for a game, when i still have a backlog of games to play?
By the time i finish playing my backlog, the prices of the games i was willing to buy would have significantly dropped. Extra cash in your pocket makes much more prudent decision than paying full price for games that you dont plan on finishing anytime soon.
If I'd do that I would not buy new games for a veeeeeery veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long time....and then....well until I play them they're already old again and other new games are out......devil's circle....
That is why i usually don't buy games that are brand spanking newYes, i do finish my backlog actually.

I would have to stop buying games for at least 2 years to clear my backlog. I buy games when I see something I like at a price I like. There are so many great games out there that I want to play, I was planning on skipping next gen due to this fact. My wallet would be much thicker if I did only buy when I need one to play, but some games might be very difficult to find or get forgotten.
There wouldn't be a backlog if I finished games before buying new ones now would there?MinishdrivebyWell that is why i am asking :3
I'm usually quite good at finishing games before buying others..
I've usually got two titles on the go at the same time..
But haven't bought a game for a while though due to the fact that I needed to finish GTA4, Darksiders 2, Dark Souls Prepara To Die, The Limbo, Trials, Splosionman Triple pack, Arkedo Series 3 Pixel, Mercury Hg, Shivering Islands, plus I need to restart Fallout Vagas some day..
It's the first time I've had so many games to finish to be honest, in the future I'll probably just stick to the original plan of playing a FPS and a RPG at the same time.. Coz it's starting to become a drag..
I've nearly completed most of them now.
[QUOTE="Minishdriveby"]There wouldn't be a backlog if I finished games before buying new ones now would there?The_Last_RideWell that is why i am asking :3 Sorry what I'm saying is if someone always finishes a game before buying a new one he would never have a pile of games to finish which means there would never be a backlog to complete in the first place. I'm just arguing semantics with you :P I have about 40 games in mine. Some I haven't even opened....
Lol, I used to feel bad about having 8 - 10 games in my backlog until I saw some 'how many games in your backlog' threads on here. Eventually I do finish games but not at the rate I would like. Still doesn't stop me from purchasing new ones though.Â
I never have a backlog. I'm never playing 2 single player games at the same time, and will finish one before I move onto the next.
PS Plus makes that impossible. Seriously, it's impossible. That's not a figure of speech. It's literally impossible. Even if I vowed never to buy another game ever again my backlog still wouldn't ever be finished by the time the next batch of PS Plus games come out the next month. I go months without buying a new game these days and my backlog still doesn't come anywhere close to being finished.
For me it doesn't make sense to continue to soldier on through a game if there is another game you want to play more (and now). The point of the game is to enjoy playing it, and it is very easy for an interesting game to simply stop being interesting on something as small as a whim. It could be as small as seeing a clip on facebook of a game I haven't played in years, or watching a TV show with a setting that I'd rather be playing than the one I'm currently moving through. Having said that, I don't buy games at full price. I don't see why anyone would when you can get them considerably cheaper online (and new) sometimes on release day (why on earth would anyone pay MSRP?).Yes, i do finish my backlog actually.

I have several games that I've spent less than 30 minutes playing simply because they weren't as fun as I thought, I got them for very cheap, and I have other things I'd rather play.Yes, i do finish my backlog actually.

My backlog has hundreds of games in it, I'm never going to finish it. It grows faster than I can get through it. Same with movies, TV shows, comics, manga, anime, cartoons, books and music.
Recently I've been playing through old isometric CRPGs. Planescape, Baldur's Gate, Arcanum, Fallout, stuff like that. It's a shame the modern RPGs are so bad because these games are absolutely amazing.
i'm horrible about getting new games when i'm in the middle of a hundred other games.yellosnolvrsame here, but i don't have hundreds of other games :P

My point was more in a scenario where you have two good games to play and a third one coming out very soon. For instance, Gears Judgment was released just a week before Bioshock Infinite. I waited to get Infinite (3 days after release date i got it for 39.99 off Amazon) because i was finishing up Gears Judgment. Why spent full price for a game that i intended to play AFTER i finished a previously started game. it doesn't make financial sense.
It is not a matter whether you continue playing and finishing a game that you did not enjoy. I usually do not consider those game part of my backlog and sell them as fast as i can. My backlog consists of games that i like and intend to finish.
Nope.
I rarely buy games these days so my backlog is nonexistant. And when I do buy a game I destroy the hell out of it since I have no other games to get in the way of it.
I have games from a year ago that I havent even broken the seal off of. Yet if a great game comes out I buy it. Im just happy that right now there wont be a lot of games Im interested in coming out so I can start finishing some of them.Diablo-Bi know the feeling :P
Nope, especially cuz I've been going back and picking up games I missed from previous gens. So when I come across a game I've been looking for in good condition and price, I grab it regardless of my backlog.
Nope. Though I tend to manage it pretty well. I usually wait to finish a game or two before buying more, and I try to at least be playing something from my backlog while I'm playing something new. That way the backlog doesn't get out of hand.
Ever since I got a job Ive un-noticeably created a backlog that keeps getting bigger and bigger, but yes I try to finish at least a few games before I buy a new one.
Same here:P. I also tend to buy older gamesEver since I got a job Ive un-noticeably created a backlog that keeps getting bigger and bigger, but yes I try to finish at least a few games before I buy a new one.

I play one game at a time and play it till I finish it unless it's something I loose interest in. I buy tons of game and in the meantime I just add them to my back log. I don't buy games new I wait till their dirt cheap. Buying games new is a waste of money when in 6 months their half price. I have enough games to keep me occupied until price drops. I also wait for game of the year or complete editions with all the DLC. DLC is another reason I no longer buy games day 1. If they can't include the entire game when it comes out I can't justify paying full price.
