i have not yet played a flop game, so i cannot say, but i have liked desperados on pc a lot, i have replayed it many times and would still play it anytime, but its a flop market wise, but who cares?

If by flop you mean sells poorly than yeah I am always willing to try those games out if it interests me already. If by flop you mean low average reviewer score(6.0 or less area) than I usually stay away.tester962that, I have games which have sold poorly (Panzer Dragoon Saga is the best example), but are really really good. then again I also have a few games that sold well but werent that good (FF7 : Dirge of Cerberus)
If you mean ones which flopped in sales, then yes I'm willing to give them a go. Sales figures mean nothing to me.
If you mean ones which were critically panned, then no I tend to not bother.
nobody liked too human, so i got it for £22 ($36) a week after release and i really enjoyed it...thats why i always download demos for every game i can so i know when i can get a great bargain.
Flop in the market... does that mean it didn't sell that well? I've played alot of games like that. Most of the games that i'm hyped for review pretty well. The lowest scored game that I loved was Lost Odyssey and it's a 78 on metacritic, which is a tragedy imo. That game caught alot of hate for no real reason what so ever.
A) It didn't have 'final fantasy' in the title. B) It wasn't on a Playstation system.Flop in the market... does that mean it didn't sell that well? I've played alot of games like that. C) Like the rest of Mistwalker's games, the graphics were HD, but the game design was a throwback (getting ambushed by 100 foot tall giants when walking through an open field) and it was lacking in polish in other areas (one that springs to mind is the fact that characters go into idle animations during battles unless they are carrying out an action, even if they are being charged by an enemy).

I read that and it's like a list of stuff that has zero effect on the gameplay or quality of the story, which to me were as good as if not better than some of my favorite JRPGs. Not to go off topic, but the Dreams/Memories thing is probably some the best writing in any game ever and that wasn't even the bulk of the game.A) It didn't have 'final fantasy' in the title. Those are just minor gripes overall. The game is good and the point I was making is if it was on PS3 it would have received much more attention from old PlayStation JRPG fans but because it was on 360 instead they went into damage control mode over it.Also a large majority of 360 fans are not into JRPGs so they overlooked the game. It's a shame because it's a great traditional JRPG.

The point about animation is a small one, but telling.
In terms of boldness of gameplay/game design Persona 3 and 4 and FF12 vastly outshine current genjrpgs and that's just sad. Mistwalker is made up of some of the greatest jrpg makers in the industry, but all they've released thus far is backwards looking games with shiny graphics that slavishly cling to some of the outdated conventions some of its members had cast aside in the past.
I tend to try and keep my interest broad, I like Onechanbara for example, may not be all that good, but once you put aside your disbelief and don't judge the game, it turns out to be not too bad with a fair challenge.
I'm also fond of Koei games, and they take a lot of grief. Aye many of their games are somewhat stale, but where a big name title would be over after barely a day, or even a quarter of a day, or less, a Koei game will still be unfinished and played months later due to the challenge.
I like to have varity and an open mind when it comes to gaming, instead of sticking to one genre - FPS for example. If I stuck to one genre, I would be missing out on a lot of games that could very well be well worth playing.
R/T
I've gotten games that didn't sell well at launch and enjoyed them, such as-Too Human, Viking:Battle for Asgard, Bionic Commando (the new one), and GTA:ChinaTown Wars. None of those games were considered a commercial success, even though ChinaTown Wars is freakin awesome!
*Shrugs* A game failing commercially doesn't impact my purchasing decisions. Hardly anybody bought Ico (40K sales first month IIRC) but I loved it. The same could be said for the likes of Carnage Heart (building and programming mechs isn't for everyone, but I spent months playing it and replaying it), Valkyria Chronicles, Ring of Red and Shadow Hearts 2 (SH3 is a game which is distinctly smaller than its predecessor, so I can only assume that SH2 disappointed at retail).
