A quick-time event is a part of a cutscene in which a button appears on the screen and you have to quickly mash that button in order to avoid dying. Resident Evil 4 is an example of a game that uses them. I don't like them very much because I prefer to watch a cutscene. When I'm playing through a game that I've never completed before, I always hold on to my controller during a cutscene, because a QTE could happen at any moment.

What about you guys? do you like quick-time events?

Enjoy Resident Evil 4, but no I never liked QTEs in games, it was a dumb feature very popular in the early-2000's to reward people who couldn't be bothered playing a video game, mashing the controller like a psychopath and be rewarded for it. All it did was annoy me and damage my controllers.

No. I like some games that have them, but they're often the worst part of the game.

Depends on the game and how frequent they are.

Nope.

I think someone thought they'd be immersive or cool, and they're literally the opposite.

Like "Hey, here's a cutscene, but wait we are not going to completely remove control from you, so push buttons when we say to!"

Would honestly they just make a small cutscene and be honest about it, and I hate cutscenes.

I guess for some games it makes sense--climbing on top of a cyclops and mashing a button to remove it's eye in God of War is pretty sweet--but again, would rather just press one button and be done with it.

When done right....the early adaptions were really good, expecially something done with speed ALA Resident evil 4......overall i kinda do miss them.

If they’re easy enough that you don’t have to worry about screwing up they’re ok but if they’re long sequences that are required to survive then no...Sonic Unleashed had 2 boss fights that were basically 1 big QTE and they just felt like luck unless you had great reaction time.
