I really wish Sega had not fallen out of the hardware race. I know four mainstream consoles would be a pretty crowded generation, but I loved all of the sega consoles. How about you guys?

Yeah, I miss Sega. They always had the most ambitious consoles for their time and some interesting ideas. Not to mention that while they were a console producer their games didn't suck.

Right on, we should judge gaming companies by how they market, not by the games they produce.  Why do you kids even play games?

I miss Sega. Always liked them better than Nintendo growing up. Hell, I was such a nerd, I used to write them letters when I was a kid and they sent me all these posters and free games. I think I still have the OutRun buttons they gave me in a box somewhere. Dreamcast was ahead of the times with online play built-in, memory cards w/ screens, 2K series. Plus, there still hasnt been a bigger improvement in graphics since Dreamcast came out. Every system since then just looks slightly improved, not a leap forward. Just look at the Wii! Dreamcast was great but their timing was wrong. All they did was show big companies what to do and what not to do. I thought they would do great as a third-party dev. and be bigger than EA, but so much for that. Passing interest is all I have in Sega now and the occasional reminiscing when I see their name on a box. Love dies hard...

I miss Sega, I miss there once great games. It's really a shame what they have become but a shadow of their former self. Sammy finished them off, not one great game since they were completely bought out. Condemed was close to an AAA but not quite. Thats about it.

They have made several great games since they merged with Sammy. At least some sections of Sega (each studio in Sega is an in individual company).

I'm waiting for the playstation generation guy to come in and ask who Sega is? Anyways, Sega may be gone from the eye of the console market but they are still producing good games and I don't miss them because of that.

I miss them. But not as much as some people seem. Its always a sad day when a big company like Sega has to step it down.

i really do miss sega. they always made consoles that were technologically superior to their competitors - they just never realized that the game library is what makes the system successful, and not just the capability of the system. i want sega back...

Unless you grew up with the PS1 and beyond, how could you not? Who knows what impact, if any they would have in the current console race, for all we know they would be tarnishing their legacy even worse than as a 3rd party developer. But I had too many great times with my Genesis and Dreamcast alone to not remember them fondly and wonder what they could accomplish with today's technology alongside their creative peak.

Ecco the Dolphin, Vectorman, Fantasy Zone, Chakan, Streets of Rage, 2k Sports, Toejam & Earl, Shinobi, Kid Chameleon, Chu Chu Rocket, Nights, Columns, VMU's, Panzer Dragoon, Greendog the Beached Surfer Dude.. hell yea I miss Sega.

Not really. MS filled the void well and probably provides the market with better competition than Sega ever did against Sony and Nintendo (post 16-bit era).

I miss the true/old Sonic the Hedgehog games. I owned a Genesis. Also, games like Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi, Golden Axe (they're making a new one on PS3 and Xbox360), etc.

yeah i feel ya bro,i used to think since the graphics then went up that 2d games would look like a hundred times better than symphony of the night but then they always end up going 3d

Not that I don't like gaming now (of course I do), but those were classics, at least to me. They were very fun games. No memory cards or hard drives, but still, that's how you mastered the game and eventually beat it.

The only people that could possibly NOT miss Sega are the kids weaned on Playstation. I remember when arguing about SNES verses Genesis was a huge topic at school...

I am glad they are still making games still but i miss them having a console of there own. Sega consoles always had great first party games as well as third party games. Anyone who just loves gaming misses the sega console. sony fanboys will say nope but anyone who got in to gaming around the time of the ps 1 will say no but hardcore game fans miss sega consoles and hate all this sony crap in our face. thank goodness microsoft got in to keep sony from domination.

Man, Genesis games used to have the most whacked out commercials ever. They were always supposed to be 'cutting edge' and 'in your face'. The problem with that is that no one likes people that are 'in your face' and 'in your face' people usually end up getting their teeth knocked out by some one that's had enough of their junk. That's sort of what happened to Sega, they got their teeth knocked out.

I do not miss them at all.

Yet the Genesis still put out tons of quality games and sold a bunch of units. It may not have won against the SNES, but the SNES was the SNES - nothing could beat it in the 16-bit era. The fact that the Genesis managed to go shot-for-shot and brutally compete with the SNES in what was probably one of the biggest all-out console wars, if not the biggest, in video game history. The fact they managed to survive and prosper was a feat in itself. It was a great console. Also, people don't give the Dreamcast enough love. It had a really unique feel and personality about it unlike any other console to this day. It also was the first console to introduce online gaming. Unfortunately, it just came out at the wrong time, too far ahead of its time when it came out (online was cumbersome, etc) while also too far behind its coming competition. It's a console that was basically between generations, which was just a bad move. That and the piracy problem was just out of control. No mods, no nothing, just discs. I have no idea how Sega let that happen.

No, not really, even though I still love my Dreamcast. I always thought Sega was almost there with their consoles but they seem to always fall short. At least they're not dead and still making games. They've been publishing some good ones lately, even though their in-house *cough* Sonic Team has been underwhelming lately.
