if you post in legacy platforms that probably means you play old games:P.

but what is your opinion on new games... do you hate them or do you think they're just as good as the older games

i have a wii but i really don't play it that much.. i just play the rabbids and super smash brothers with friends.. but thats it.. i don't hate current stuff but i prefer the old games because they're cheaper and sometimes more fun.. i also missed out on a lot of games so i need to play those.. to me the new stuff is okay.. but the classics are just .. classic!

It dosent matter when the game was made.

I think MGS4 and FFVII are equally good, despite the graphical differences.

pretty much my opinion, I judge games on the basis of gameplay, and I judge graphics based on when the game was released and on which system.

I play both somewhat equally. I play new games and play old games for a quick fix when I need a break from the new ones or to relax for a while.

Both.

For a while when I got my PS3 I was only playing newer games, but then I picked up a bunch of older games for cheap so now I kind of bounce back and forth depending on the day.

I play current games more than a play "retro" games, but you got to make time to appreciate the classics.

while the market is full of FPS games , which I don't like, one has to remember, this is not new, 15 years ago , every game was either a fighting game or a platformer, with the occasional RPG or beat em up. then again, I prefer those genres to the FPS, so I suppose youre right,

I play current games, too. But I'm a bit more judging and selective about current games. I may only buy 1 or 2 current games a month because of their price, and they are always top-quality games or nothing since I am spending a pretty penny. While on the other hand I'm always finding stuff in the bargain bins for classic games that worthwhile so I buy a lot more of them. As a result I play a lot more of them.

Well, its not just the FPS, but I also feel that the quality of other genres has dropped a bit. For example, I bought Ratchet and Clank a few weeks ago, and I was pretty disappointed. It gets great reviews, so I thought it would be of similar quality to some of the old N64 platformers, but I thought it was no where near the level of those games. I also think that for the most part, the technology hasn't really spurred any inovation. One of the exceptions I think is the battlefield series, whith the destructable environments, but otherwise it just seems the new technology has only improved graphics.

I agree. I very well might not buy any more consoles in future gaming generations...unless Sega makes a comeback.

I mostly play older games, though I have newer PC titles. There are just a lot of great old games I've never played, and I'd rather spend, say, $45 on three awesome old games than $50 on one brand new current one. It's a price thing for me.

I also have a life, so I can't beat games as quickly as I'd like.

I play old games to learn a little, some of the older games are better than the new ones, but still I like the new games more than the older games, maybe because I´m young :P I was 4 when I got the nintendo 64, and mostly I play games from that platform. I got some snes games for the VC, but I don´t play them too much.

Right now I´m playing more new games than old games.

I had an Xbox 360, and when I played it, I immediately said to myself this wasn't for me, plus the games that are out now are ridiciously redundant, (too many FPS and hack-slash or just a remake of something in the past) and when I play my PS2 for example I actually feel there's a more diverse library of games and fun in the consoles, which is the same reason why I still play with my PS2, Genesis, more originality IMO

I will admit the newest console I do have is my PSP, since I do like to play God Of War on the go or a Silent Hill for example :P , my Gameboy Advance SP as well

So yeah :)

I only play older games when it comes to console. When it comes to PC I play newer and older. I always stay one generation behind on console games simply because it costs so much less when the next generation comes around. I don't mind waiting.

I play both retro and current gen. Being a fighting game fan, I'm very pleased with this gen, but also being an RPG fan, I'm kind of disappointed that there are few games of this genre out there, even as of now.

I mostly play older games because I can't play newer ones. I just don't have the money for it. I would love to play newer games, believe me, but the thing is; I play games to have a good time and I still enjoy the older ones but I play newer games too, whenever I have a chance. A new ps3 game in my local games-shop is about 2000 baht and vs. a "normal" 7-11 employee's salary of 150 baht per day it's just silly.

I'm a gamer. That means I play games. If I find something interesting enough to hold my attention I'll play it. I don't care whether it takes Windows, a web-browser with flash, a handheld system or a console system - if I have the "container" then I'll give a game a try.

I have trouble sticking with games in terms of getting one, playing through it and moving to the next, so I'm always playing a mix of retro, modern, and modern downloadable (which kinda feels like half and half much of the time) games. I usually get to the end of the best ones, but often not for several months as I've usually got so many on the play list.

Many of my favourite modern games are reminiscent of older games though, I like a lot of DS and PSP stuff and modern versions of classic franchises like Street Fighter and Mario etc. Not into too many of the FPS and Third Person games which makes up the modern mainstream, but I do try to give them a chance as I try to play a decent mix (I get bored otherwise).

I play retro games only as you may note on my user icon and signature, lots of retro consoles. I bought an Xbox when they barely came out but got bored of the reality-graphics going on with the games. It's easier to keep a cartridge safe for a long period, while a cd gets lots of scratches if you don't take care enough, it takes longer to load up... and so. But I prefer to play retro games than the new games on the market.

Play a mix of both...I love my COD4, BFBC2, Tekken 6, and Modnation Racers games

But I also love FF Tactics, Spyro, Super Metroid, Super Mario RPG Seven Stars, FF VI or III, Snes Mario Kart.

Yea ps1 and snes games ftw! lol...I haven't gotten into original nes much even though i have one and I skipped out on the sega/n64 consoles

I play both Current and legacy videogames. Halo Reach I've pre ordered. But I always check out EB games, Flea markets, Pawn Shops, for classic games as well. I've been playing videogames since 1983 - 2010.. So both legacy and current videogames are fun for me. I've currently have 257 games in my collection (both old and New so I'll have to get around to updating the list)

Legacy games will always be important for me. One day Halo Reach will be a legacy game...

Legacy games are more pick up and play than current generation. (I've only 107 current gen games. the rest is legacy)

I also have this problem. I've been trying to beat FEAR and Killzone 2 for like 6+ months now, but I always get distracted when playing. Its not that I don't like the game, but it just doesn't keep my attention that well.

What this guy said. Not too picky on whether or not a game is older or more current. Plenty of both that I'd love to try

If i never married my wife, never introduced her to my collection of consoles, never bought her a Wii & myself a PS3, she'd still be playing NES exclusively. All through college, that's all she had and all she enjoyed. As a teen living at home, her family also had a SNES and N64, mainly because her little brother wanted those. But for her entire life, she would never have touched another console if it weren't for me. I, however, love moving up to the newest thing. Not usually moving up at launch, though; i end up getting consoles years after their release.

i do actually know 1 guy that ONLY plays Tetris on nes and Mario64 on N64. Thats it. But i wouldnt say he's much of a gamer. It's not like he only plays 50 different NES games and refuses to play new games. Personally, I play my NES, Genesis, PS1, and Atari Lynx about as much as I play my Playstation2, Xbox, Xbox360, and PSP. I dont consider Xbox and PS2 as "older stuff" really. Anything after 1999 isnt really that old to me (i've been gaming since 1980). Sometimes I go a LONG time without playing a particular console (genesis and xbox sometimes are neglected) but my collection is pretty evenly spaced out.

I like the new gen, but I find it cost prohibitive. I tend to stay one generation behind in regards to video games. That way, you can get great games, consoles, and peripherals at awesome prices.Though I must say, I've not been impressed with what I have seen from this gen too much.

What about people that can't afford a next-gen system? They play only classic games because they don't have much of a choice about it. I was one of those people until a few months ago (unless you're still counting PS2, I did have that).

I tried the Xbox 360 (three times and sold it each time) and felt the current generation of games lacks substance. I prefer PS2 and older games, mainly because I prefer classic RPGs.

I play older game more new, and I believe the overall game quality has fallen recently, but that's not saying all new games are bad. There are quite a few nice gems, actually, MGS4, Uncharted, and Red Dead to name a few.
