They're going to come back swinging after this generation's embarrassing butthurt loss out to the PS4.
gaming's too big now for them to simply step down at this point and let Nintendo, Sony and Valve reign over. Especially them that as a software company they need to have a strong presence in everything that has to do with software to cement their position as the biggest software company in the world

Yeah I predict so... especially if Spencer's still in charge.
Yaaaas. I hope so. I have an original Xbox, but didn't delve into the 360 or X1. However, if they keep up their amazing turn-face good will game-centric message then I may consider their next platform. Regardless, it's good to have a large player like MS involved. More push to please the core!
thought X1 isn't selling as much as PS4 , but it is selling well and making profit . besides , competition is good for gaming . if it wasn't for Xbox 360 , PS3 would have been an overpriced crap (remember 600$ price ) and games like Uncharted probably would''t even exist . and if it wasn't because of PS4 , xbox one was an always online console with forced kinect . so lets hope Microsoft does make a Console and pretty good one too . they took lessons from Xbox One's first year and they won't make the same mistakes again.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how much influence Satya Nadella has on the xbox division. Any idea?
Of all the console makers going forward Microsoft is in the beat position. With Azure cloud ☁ computing and Havok, along with the best software people in the biz, they will be ready for where gaming will be going in the future, and will key in getting us there.
Yes I think so, although it will be interesting to see what form any of the console manufacturers implement next time around. With them experimenting with cloud resources and integrating more with pc it may have less onboard power and be more of an interface than a computer itself. This could increase profit margins while providing a good user experience.

Yeah not sure... probably as much as any CEO of a large group has on a smaller division in a company.
I wouldn't worry, as long as MS is making a profit back from X1, then I can see them continuing on making consoles. I hope so cause if not, Sony will be the only dominate console in the gaming market but however, I can see Nintendo vs Sony since Nintendo is taking this NX seriously and they know it.
The more the merrier. But really, I think having the competing consoles pushes each to be better. Just look at the online-only Xbox idea that got sidelined.
