I personally think it will be a great year because of all the game trilogies comming 2008, and great new titles that will have something to offer

2007 was the best year for games to date, because there was so much profit. There were so many incredible titles that came out. To name one Halo 3 made $170 million opening day the most of any movie or game ever. Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4, and Bishock were also very profitable. 2008 looks to be a great year for games. Star Wars The Force Unleashed looks excellent. Tom Clancys Endwar looks very good. The Bourne Conspiracy looks awesome. Grand Theft Auto 4 looks amazing. Army of Two looks unique. Fracture looks cool, and Ghost Busters looks really nice. There are so many more, but all these games look amazing.

It will be too me. Why? THe biggest reason is that adventure gaming is getting reborn. the first signs of that we've seen already in 07, but that's nothing compared to what 2008 will be.

2008 will deff be better just for the simple fact that GTA4 is coming out and adding to that there is Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and BattleField Bad Company.

1998 still rules them all in terms of actual quality titles.

2008 is going to be the year of quality, not-so-highly-hyped titles. This will benefit our enjoyment of them because over-hyped titles are always a disappointment.

StarCraft II alone is going to shut down South Korea.

Quite a few titles I was looking forward to were pushed back such as Merc 2, GTA IV, plus you have titles like Condemned 2 Saint's Row 2 and a bunch of lesser known titles that sell well.

it should be another solid year for gaming and i already have 8-9 games i'm looking forward to that fall within the first half of 2008

Definitely. 2007 was very much about quantity, over hyped games, of which some were a disappointment. But that can be said of almost every year. We'll just have to wait and see how 2008 turns out.

GTA4, Littlebigplanet, DMC4, Ninja Gaiden 2, MGS4, Disgaea 3, Rez HD, Pursuit Force 2 (it is out in Europe already), Silent Hill 5, Infamous, Patapon, Motorstorm 2 and Echochrome are all games I know I am going to wind up spending my hard earned money on. And games like Alan Wake and Killzone 2 look promising and I'm sure that new games will pop up onto my radar as the year goes on (I wasn't even aware of Bioshock when 2007 started, yet it wound up beign a game I enjoyed

Yeah I think 2008 will be a fantastic year for gaming with releases like Halo Wars, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ninja Gaiden 2, Spore, Devil May Cry 4, Soul Calibur IV, Tekken 6, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD, and Metal Slug 3(Live Arcade) just to name a few along with some games that I'm really hoping to make it in 2008 like Starcraft II, Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, and Gears of War 2.

I'm also really looking forward to seeing what kind of downloadable content will be available for some of this year's games like Mass Effect and more stuff for Halo 3.

Heck I still need to catch up and pick up some games from this year as well like Ace Combat 6 and Call of Duty 4.

It's almost scary to have two years back to back like this filled with as many high quality titles as we getting although I won't complain. I think it's better to have so much good stuff to choose from then not enough.

Everyone's mentioning the obvious, so I'll mention the handheld category, games like Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core, Final Fantasy IV DS, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles DS, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Dragon Quest IV, V, IX for the DS, Ninja Gaiden DS, Professor Layton, Apollo Justice, and a bunch of other niche titles like the Y's remake.

Also, 2007 to me felt like the year of the shooters, but 2008 seems like there will be more variety that can run for GOTY.

Where as 2007 looked like this:

  • The Orange Box
  • Halo 3
  • Call of Duty 4
  • Crysis
  • Bioshock
  • Mass Effect
  • Super Mario Galaxy

2008 may look like this, all can run for GOTY potential:

  • Starcraft 2
  • Grand Theft Auto 4
  • Metal Gear Solid 4
  • Ninja Gaiden 2
  • Little Big Planet
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • End War
  • SoulCalibur IV
  • Street Fighter IV
  • Spore
  • ...etc., with no shooter in sight.

Most of the games in my GameSpot wishlist come out in 2008.

2008 will be awesome. The reason lies in my avatar.

Dragon Age

Aion

Issues 12 and 13 for City of Villains

Fallout 3

Sid Meier...dunno what these guys will do, but they may release something! They somehow manage to get below my radars for some reasons! They won't get away like that! :P

Stargate, Hero Journey, BioWare MMOs will all advance and maybe even 1 will ninja strike the market with a release and sweep me away. See, a predator doesn't always prepare it release a long time ahead...a ninja release make sure the players join the server less in a rush, they can fix some bugs...and many other advantages. Personnally, I would hit the market with a ninja release if I where a dev, some may say it is bad marketing, I think it is genius. Maybe they will start advertising 1 year before release...or something like that, just to get the currents...many reasons to do 1 way or another...advertising bring more players on the release date, so if anything goes wrong, you look dumb to more peoples...if you go progressively, maybe they won't even notice something was wrong...and the furious purchase of all the fans who didn't see that coming and want to catch up a month or two later! Niak niak niak.

Just that is already extremely promising and making me drool all over my place. There are likely to be many sweet and nice surprises even if I always always always will want more like a child! Cause when we talk about games, I am a child! :P

Just a few reasons... GTA4, Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2, MGS4, Spore, Starcraft 2, Street Fighter 4, Little Big Planet, Smash Bros. Brawl... 2008 will be just as good, if not better than 2007 imo.

The majority of the titles for the current generation that I've been looking forward to most have already come out this past fall. There's still a few games coming out this year that I'm looking forward to.

The main games I'm looking forward to next year are Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space. All horror games. Although I am also looking forward to Spore.

EDIT: Oh, and GTA4.

Depends more so on the Genre...Like the FPS for next year are pretty much throw away material compared to what we had this year.

While Action games in 2008 make 2007's a throw away.

RPGs, to be honest right now. Still there are so many...maybe releases. Look like a wash.
