Do you think Gamestop is a good company? Or is Ebay and local places better?

Gamestop always seems to have broken games and are missing booklets or cases. And those arn't good things at all. And almost all of them are run badly I'vebeen in so many and only seen like 3 that have ever been run the right way.

The EB Games I frequent are run rightly from what i can tell. I've bought games off of Ebay and in places like Walm-Mart; but I lijke the fact of asking about a game and getting an answer from a fellow gamer or a person intreted in games.

I've had similar experiences with the gamestops around here, so I tend to avoid them altogether. Besides, there's a local shop that's much closer and is pretty competitive with gamestop (in terms of $$$ offered for trade-ins and prices)... It's just an overall better store from my perspective. However, with gamestop it seems your mileage may vary.

**** eBay. Gamestop is fine, they usually always have the same prices anyway. I use to prefer EB before they merged. GoGamer is a good place for PC games bcause they are usually cheaper, BUT are usually canadian relesases as well. Not a big deal though, exceptsome of their merchandisearecanadianreleases sothe box art and the in game splash screens have different information than the U.S release. Doesn't effect the game in anyway though.

I've never had any problems with GameStop. I use Ebay now, though, since most GameStops no longer carry Xbox games. Glyde.com as well.

I like that too but most of the people working at ones near me don't know anything or are arrogant jerks who shouldn't work with people in costumer service

It seems to depend on the store. The Gamestop near me is pretty good actually, I have had no problems with them.

The Gamestop I shop at is fine, even if one employee there is slightly rude.

Ebay has better prices, but you always run the risk of being the victim of a bad seller who never ships your item. You can get a refund, but it'll take about a month for the legal work.

Gamestop is a **** store. I only shop there because I have to. Most of the people there can barely do their jobs.

I have no problem with Gamestop. Their trade-in prices aren't very good, but when they run promotions like the one they have now I'll go there to trade stuff in. By the time you get done selling things on Ebay and when you factor in the fees, shipping, and Paypal fees, Gamestop's trade prices (with the promotions) work out to be the same or even better sometimes.

I use gamestop for pre-ordering, and accessories, but I like to shop on amazon for older games and best-buy for the reward-zone points.

Not around here. Local joints are the best. Dimple Records sells used games usually for less than GamStop/EBGames, and their own reward points system is better than Best Buy or any other bigchain.

Gamestop will always be a crap shoot since these days it caters to the impulse buyer. Nowadays I just can't be bothered to deal with scraggly, socially-inept clerks. I simply lack the patience to deal with them. Going the online route I can generally find a better deal (save for when GS has a decent special going on) and get greater value when peddling my wares. I just got $1100 for a wholesale lot of games on eBay that would have fetched under half that amount at GS.

You do realize a seller can set the terms of the auction to offset some of those costs, right?:? As far as GS's trade prices being better, I've rarely ever seen this to be the case.

Well yeah, most auction fees are free now but you factor in the final price value fee and the potential paypal fee and there's like 5 bucks gone right there. And then worrying about shipping costs (sometimes they aren't exact), bad sellers/buyers, and the wait time and I feel it's not worth it at times. I'd rather get my money right now and perhaps take a small hit at Gamestop then waste my time on Ebay.

Gamestop is overpriced. I was looking to get Mass Effect 2 on my birthday. My wife and I were in a mall where we live and the sales clerk said they didn't have any new copies, just a used one (what a surprise  ). It was 34.99. I told the guy I'd think about it and maybe come back later. I wanted a new copy. We went to Best Buy down the street and they had it brand new for five dollars cheaper. If I bought the used copy I would have had to pay for the Cerberus activation in addition to the five more dollars that the used copy would have cost me at Gamestop.

That's just one story. It seems like I have a different one every time I go in there. Eff you see kay GameStop. That place blows.

Buy local. I would have bought ME2 at a local store that used to be here no matter what the price. In the end it just ends up helping my community and helping me. Too bad GameStop drove them out of business.

Gamestop is a terrible company with shady as hell business practices, not to mention thier tendency to come into a town, buy all the used game stores, and turn them into Gamestop's. While there is nothing "wrong" with that second part it takes away the individuality and heart and soul of the stores and replaces them with a Gamestop carbon copy.

I always shop at local stores first, and then check online, and then finally ANY CHAIN STORE BESIDES GAMESTOP (Disc Replay, GameXChange, etc.), and then Gamestop if it gets to that.

If I use Gamestop at all, it is for pre-ordering games that are actually worth pre-ordering. Last game I did this with was Deathsmiles. I thought it would be really unlikely for any store to carry the Deathsmiles Limited Edition, and from what I have seen I was right. Gamestop is the only store I have seen this in.

Use Gamestop if it benefits you, just be aware of the superior options out there, especially when it comes to buying used games.
