Do you think Modern Warfare is the next World War 2 of games?

Like, do you think Modern Warfare will be the theme of most fps games until people get sick of it like World War 2?

I think so, since the new Medal of Honor will be in Modern times, and I have a feeling many more games will follow.

I think it so too, because modern war is more fun than old war and many people more like it.

I think it will be the trend for FPS for some time to come. If one of the most dominant WWII games back in the day (Medal of Honor) is switching to modern warfare, then I think it's a sign of what's going to come. Also with all the success that COD4 and MW2 have had, it's tempting for FPS developers to try and emulate those types of games.

Also, with modern warfare, you can just make up conflicts and use today's weaponry, so it doesn't have to grow stale. With WWII, it was all about re-creating real battles (unless you went the Resistance route).

yes I do. it'll be interesting to see if in 10 years a realistic (ish) take on future warfare will be all the rage. you know, after Modern Times combat becomes as stale as everyone thinks WW2 is now.

Not really. Mainly because you can go anywhere with a modern war at the moment. With WWII games it was always the same places and the same scenarios. I mean how many different times did we storm the beaches of Normandy?

Raikoh_

That is half the fun :P. Why do we rewatch Saving Private Ryan? Band of Brothers? I think we play those games because we want to see who does it better. Who can capture that moment perfectly. I won't get tired of WW2 shooters, unless they're all like CoD. Gimme a new Brothers in Arms or Company of Heroes any day.

But you do have a point. Modern warfare is too open-ended to become "stale" unless they start reusing locations.

I hope so :)

I like modern and futuristic shooters more.

WW2 is lame. One or two games here and there are ok.

I wish the next Call of Duty or Medal of Honor was in the future, if you played Battlefield 2142 then that is what I mean. It was a fun game with a somewhat warful feel without being to childish with lasers.

i also heard the the next game treyarch will be making is from the cold war era. For fps i think everyone should follow the way COD has made their games. They have sold so many copies and and are making a ton of money. I think that treyarch has the capabilities of making a great game either from the cold war or in the future. They are setting the bar for other games worldwide.

Sorta getting sick of ww2 but....I hope someone comes out with a decent ww2 battlefield type game...I know theres battlefield 1942 & 1943 but I mean something along the lines of gfx and extreme battles as call of duty 4? I think so many call of dutys ive lost count after 2 lol
