Does playing ps1 games on a ps2 ruin the graphics of the ps1 game? I noticed that when I play my ps1 games on a ps1 system it looks much better than playing it on a ps2?

It shouldn't, at least not to my knowledge... my PS1 games look the same as they always have when playing them on a PS2. I believe that they have the hardware to play the PS1 games built into the PS2 and everything.

no but even if it did i would prefer to play it in the ps2 because they crash less in there (ps2 is fully backwards compatible)

No, There is even an option to enhance the graphics, but there isn't any real noticable diference.

The PS2 has hardware in it to play PS1 games. Since it's not done by emulation, it would look exactly the same. If, on the other hand, it was done by emulation (as PS1 and PS2 games are done on some of the PS3s), I could imagine perhaps losing some visual quality.

NOTE: This day and age, with graphics being where they are today, I'm surprised anyone would notice any sort of graphical downgrade on PS1 games.

I think the texture mapping lends itself a bit better to some games than others. FF IX looks awsome, where Tomb Raider I looks just as blocky and gross as it did on the PS1 (I was borrowing my buddies PS1 when I bought it). So it depends.

No, I don't think the PS2 does. The PS3 might.

Haha no, ps1 graphics just really sucked back in the day and you never noticed until you played so many ps2 games with awesome graphics. I also plop in some old games and im like "HOLY CRAP!!! These graphics are the suck!!" I think some of the games look like atari graphics lmao. Yo but we all know graphics dont make the game so I personally dont care.
