The dreamcast was awsome.. Its a shame it wasnt well recieved by many. GoreObsessed
I agree with GoreObsessed. The Dreamcast was an amazing system. I loved mine and my favorite game on there was Resident Evil: Code Veronica (which was graphically better than PS2 Code Veronica X) however, I think people were not as receptive, like GoreObsessed said, as Sega would have hoped.
I really wish I could understand why it wasn't received well though. The whole, "It's thinking" ad campaign is what convinced me to buy one. That's one purchase I did not regret.
If you are a fan of the Resident Evil series pickup a copy of Code Veronica. I also thought, the "House of the Dead" (2 I think?) was a great arcade to console adaptation.
If you can't find any better games on Dreamcast than RE:CV you're not even looking. How about Ikaruga, Rez, Bangai-O, Space Channel 5, Seaman, Samba de Amigo, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Rayman 2, Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Virtua Fighter 3TB, SoulCalibur, Dead or Alive 2, The King of Fighters 99, Marvel vs Capcom 2, The House of the Dead 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, NFL 2K1, Skies of Arcadia, Quake III Arena, Phantasy Star Online, Grandia II, Gunbird 2, Soul Reaver, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Chu Chu Rocket, Ready 2 Rumble, Bomberman Online, and Street Fighter III?It was so great it killed SEGA in system wars. Only game it ever had was RE:Code Veronica, and that had more options on the PS2, so there you go. I still look at mine and wish I had the money I spent on it back.

the thing about the dreamcast (as well as the saturn) was that the best games came out in japan. especially if ya like 2d shooters and fighting games.

Yeah Ranteal, pretty much come up with an better argument before you try attacking a system.
If you think the Dreamcast is really that amazing, you've got to try the Saturn and Genesis. famicommander
I'd have to still say Dreamcast was the best Sega had to offer, Mega Drive came pretty close too though.
If you ask me (a noted Dreamcast aficionado), the Dreamcast was by far SEGA's worst stand-alone home console. It had the least diverse selection of games, the smallest amount of games, the poorest representation of SEGA's cIassic franchises (Shinobi? Shining? Panzer Dragoon? Golden Axe? Out Run?) and the shortest lifespan. I absolutely love my Dreamcast, but I'd take the Saturn, Genesis, or Master System ahead of it any day of the week.I'd have to still say Dreamcast was the best Sega had to offer, Mega Drive came pretty close too though.

YEAH! The reason I picked up DC was for the promise of a new Panzer Dragoon game.... I ended up having alot of fun on Orta though ( I even picked up the LE White Xbox that came with the game) I was also hoping for a Virtual On game... oh well I guess.
I personally think that if SEGA had a DVD player and based their games on DVD cd's instead of the GDrom cd's in the Dreamcast then it would have lasted much longer.
One thing the Playstation had that Dreamcast didn't have were the RPG's. The Dreamcast or SEGA in general seem to create more games geared toward Arcade type of titles. They do it and did it real well too, that's their Trademark.
If you still keep up with the Dreamcast then you may notice that small developers in Japan still make titles for it. They occasionally pop up 1 every 6 months - a year.
The Dreamcast didn't have a DVD player because if it did, it would've been ridiculously expensive. The Dreamcast had hardware specs only slightly inferior to the PS2 in 1998 when it debuted in Japan. The PS2 cost a full 100 dollars more two years later, and Sony could afford to sell it at all loss while SEGA could not. As for RPGs. the Dreamcast had Shenmue, Shenmue II, Grandia 2, Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star Online, Evolution: The World of Sacred Device, and Evolution 2: The Far-Off Promise. Not a bad list at all. Though I do agree that it is a bit lacking (especially in the Shining department).I personally think that if SEGA had a DVD player and based their games on DVD cd's instead of the GDrom cd's in the Dreamcast then it would have lasted much longer.
